on tap at hunahpu release. poured yellow with a white head. aroma and flavor were like a lemon grass with pepper notes and citrus. body was light and fizzy. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAY 3, 2011
Growler, courtesy CheeseMan I believe. Pours a lightly hazy, pale golden-straw color. A small, frothy, off-white head settles to a thin, bubbly edge. Rounded, splotchy spots of lacing dot the glass. The aroma is based in a combo of lightly sweet and slightly drier cereal grains. From there, peppery notes of Chinese 5 spice, lemon rind, and citrus chiffon emerge, adding conflicting bitter and sharp scents. Flavors seem to mostly clash as well, semi-dry cereal grains colliding with the peppery, sharp anise and woody clove in the 5 spice. The palate sports a medium body with soft yet active carbonation and a relatively dry finish. I don’t find fault with the mouthfeel, but the lingering spice finish is a bit excessive. Overall, this just is not my cup of tea. Too messy. dimenhetfield (2486) - , Florida, USA - MAR 16, 2011
Growler shared by Dstructo at Hunaphu’s release. Here’s what I recall. Spicy aroma with a slight fruit tartness. Light golden color and very easy to drink. Not the best description but it’s what I remember. juiceisloose (1492) - Windermere, Florida, USA - MAR 5, 2011
Draft at the CCB tasting room. This one pours a hazy straw yellow color and topped by a small head of off white foam that settles quickly to a thin film. Small spots of lace slide down the glass and rejoin the body below. The aroma shows a good amount of banana, clove spices, and fruity esters to go with the yeast profile. The flavor follows with mild banana, clove, 5 spice, some tart fruits, and bready yeast. Luckily I don’t get much in the way of seaweed, but the chinese 5 spice adds some nice spiciness to the flavors. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation that leads to a slightly dry, bitter sweet finish. From the ingredients I definitely wasn’t expecting all the banana notes. This is still an interesting take on the style and enjoyable on a hot Florida day. Good brew. dchmela (3064) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 11, 2011
Tap at the brewery. Hazy yellowish pour with a thin white head. Tart fruity aroma. Really nice saison yeast esters in the taste, some spiciness and fruit. Very tasty version of a saison.

Draft… Hazy straw-colored ale with a small, fizzy, white head. A small ring floats atop the brew and clings stubbornly to the side of the glass until I’ve taken my last sip. The aromatics are herbal and floral – licorice, anise oil and sassafras root. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is spicy and mildly sweet with gently bitterness and very light acidity. Finishes crisp, floral and a tad spicy. glennmastrange (2871) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - FEB 1, 2011
Tap. Light to moderate grain for the malt, moderate lemon and perfume for the hops, faint must for the yeast with hints of banana, and pear. Head is small, fizzy, white with some slippery lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is hazy golden yellow. Flavor starts faintly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation. Pretty refreshing and very dry at the end, just a little light overall. 50belair (3643) - Florida, USA - JAN 31, 2011
