On tap at Hunahpu release. Nice looking brew. As soon as I smelled this, I knew it was going to be a sour one. Big tart apples that give a huge puckering effect. So freaking good. Reminds me of a green war head or apple sour patch kid. Even with the acidity and sourness, I would drink this all day. Chipalsa (1310) - Florida, USA - MAY 30, 2012
I had this one a while back at Hunahpu Day. The color was a dirty golden with light bubbles. I wouldn’t have guessed apple by the scent - it was more like pineapples past their prime. That’s not good or bad - just not apple! The flavor is full of tart apple with light earthy/grassy tones and only a subtle sweet finish. It was smooth and incredibly drinkable - refreshing even. hopscotch (11049) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Draft… CCB’s Hunahpu’s Day 2012… This beer rocks!… Cloudy golden ale with a peach tint and a bubbly, fleeting, white head. The bouquet furnishes some really nice, clean acidity, but the apples themselves are a bit odd-smelling – they’re appley, but certainly not your run-of-the-mill bittersweet, sharp or sweet apples commonly used in cider making. In fact, they smell a bit like fresh, warm perspiration. Medium-bodied and uber-creamy with supple carbonation. The flavor is crazy fruity – appley, to be specific – with razor-sharp acidity that folds neatly into a tart, crisp, clean finish. Other than the aroma, with which I am not entirely comfortable, this is a fantastic drinking experience. World class beer! Sean9689 (285) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2012
Had this one on two different occasions. This review will come from my sample at Hunahpu’s Day 2012. This was brewed using Hidden Rose Apples...rar stuff!
A - Pours a light pink color, mirky, white head.
S - Pretty big tartness right up front, some Hidden Rose Apple sweetness in there, but back comes the tart acidic notes. More like a wild ale then a Berliner, but I’m not complaining, just saying.
T - Similar to the nose, big fruity tartness, very dry, apple sweetness. Once again, the tartness plays a big role here and doesn’t let up. Lots of pucker! The finish is light citrus and acidic tartness.
M - Light, good carbonation, dry finish.
O - Another excellent berliner, but really more like a wild ale to me. I would say this beer could easily contend with anything coming from any brewery in the country. Give me this beer over Cuvee de Castleton, Framboise de Amarosa, Upright Fantasia, etc. Simply stunning stuff! pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 21, 2012
Cigar City Phat Bottom Berliner consumed at hunahpus day 2012...cloudy peachy apricot hued consistency, mostly
hazy/cloudy... tart apple skin and apple cider vinegar on the nose...
A little bit too acidic with a green apple sourness upfront. Acidic
and semi-vinegar provided from the apple source it seems. Medium
bodied with a semi-puckering finish. i can see why some folks would enjoy this but it’s was bit too much when i had miami right beforehand.

On draft at Cigar City Huna Day 2012. Wakefield just knows how to make incredible berliners. The man has found his nitch and has perfected it. The apples mixed with that sour kick is just heaven!! Gnat628 (10) - Florida, USA - MAR 13, 2012
On draft at Hunhapu day. This animal pours a candy pink in color, with so much apple in this nose almost like apple overload backed by so much lactic tart goodness. This one is a mouth puckerer, ah the apples are so nice in this one and the tartness is very refreshing for sure. Very much like a cider beer blend to me, best apple beer I have ever had for sure. Need more more more. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 13, 2012
On draft at Hunahpu Day 2012. Pours a hazy yellow with pink highlights and a big white head. Nose is tart citrus, and big tart fruit with the apples coming in politely after the tartness has stampeded through. Flavor is similar- tart as hell- and the apples sweetening after the tart brigade marches on. Amazing beer. Medium in body for a berliner, and simply outstanding at 4.5% alcohol. A flabbergasting beer. daknole (11044) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 12, 2012
BINGO! Pours a darker pinkish/brownish hue. Nice off white head. Big juicy aroma of apples, sour patch kids, and tropical fruits. Sour and juicy beer GALORE! Tons of tart apples and sour patch fruit. Damn right another one out of the park by JW! burg326 (5479) - Florida, USA - MAR 12, 2012
Pours a light yellow hazy pink color, with aromas of funk, tart tropical fruit, and apple juice. Flavor is acidic fruit and sour apples. It was a nice beer to have in the heat with some earthiness coming through as the beer warmed.
