Ancient rating from Hunahpu’s Day 2012, I recently found my tasting notes. Figured why waste good ticks…black licorice in a bottle. anise, coffee, tobacco. Nice. hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2012
Draft… CCB’s Hunahpu’s Day 2012… This beer rocks!… Pours mostly black with a small, creamy, taupe head. The bold, plush, rooty bouquet furnishes plenty of singed malts intertwined with dark fruits, nuttiness and black licorice or fennel – I can’t decide which. Full-bodied and oily with stinging carbonation. The flavor is sweet, but also charred - pouch tobacco, molasses, dark chocolate, black licorice and black malt bitterness. The finish is more of a scorched, bittersweet, slow-fade. World class Baltic porter! markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 13, 2012
On draft at Hunahpu Day 2012. Pours a porter brown with an off-white head. Nose is huge licorice along with some other roast and fruit character, if I really dig around, but I don’t want to because of all the dang licorice. Flavor is Sambuca, big licorice, and some mild dark fruit. A black licorice lover’s delight, but not my bag. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 12, 2012
WOW! Black pour, brown head. Aroma of licorice, chocolate, molasses, prunes. Flavor is ashy, molasses, licorice. Just a real treat here. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - MAR 11, 2012
Poured a dark black color, aromas of play-doh, anise, chocolate, coffee, oak, and sambuca. Flavor is the same as the aroma, decent amount of licorice flavor from the sambuca, nice oak and coffee flavors come through as all. I had my hopes set high on this ber, and it delivered.
