Ancient rating from Hunahpu’s Day 2012, I recently found my tasting notes. Figured why waste good ticks…smoky, hoppy, and chipotle heat. the citrus and smoky pepper presence were quite a blend. interesting, fun beer. DialSquare (5029) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 9, 2014
On tap at the brewery: orange-brown pour with a light tan head. aroma of light smoke, malt. tastes are predictably smokey, pepper, spice, caramel. ok, not my bag. - 6.4 Chalsk (1104) - North Caldwell, New Jersey, USA - JUN 7, 2014
On tap at Cambridge for PBW. After craving Tocobago for a few years, I get this. A disappointment. Aroma of chilies and lemon tea which doesn’t do it for me and the taste is equally disappointing as the chili taste is overpowering. Still waiting to quench my craving for Tocobaga. I needed to smoke a baga after drinking this beer if you catch my drift. On tap at Cambridge. Poured red color with small head. Notes are campfire, chipotle, 15hr brisket, and some spices. Overwhelming and rough. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 6, 2014
Pours unclear somewhat murky with a ring beige head. The aroma brings some dried chiles and tea leaves with underlying lemon, probably the highlight of the beer. Flavor brings lemony malts, light tea, and subtle citrus zest with faint chiles at the end on the tongue.

Draft. Red pour with tan head. Light hoppy tones, spice and chili aromas.
Total chili takeover, light spice and hoppy tones. Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - DEC 20, 2013
Draft at the Syb Pig 1st anniversary party. Tulip. Nice reddish brown pour with very thick white head. Aroma of chilies hit first with a hint of wood or smoke. The taste is similar. I have NOT been liking numerous chili beers lately as they have simply been too damn hot. (I love spicey, hot food but not beer.) I was worried about this one being too spicy. However, pleasantly it was bold pepper flavor but not overly hot. The smoke blended nicely with the chillies and the malts/hop profiles balanced out well. Overall I really liked it. Finish is peppers but mild. Moderate carbonation. knickskicks (1162) - - OCT 19, 2013
Red pour, white head. Nose is citrus, caramel, chilies. Taste is big chilies, citrus, spicy burn. Slick and oily. Though not too much heat, the chili taste and smell is a little too much. Beardaxe (293) - - AUG 4, 2013
Good stuff. It loses some of the hopp punch of tocobaga. In fact tocobaga is pulled into the background on this. The chili peppers taste like jalapeños and aren't too hot. They are at the forefront of the drink though. Very good but i do wish it tasted more like tocobaga.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2013 Tap at CCB. Smell very peppery, with a hint of hops, but the pepper is dominant. Pour red- brown with a nice white head. Taste pepper, hops, smokey, and wood. Has a mild bacon flavor. This is a great take from the Tocobaga which is one of my favorite beers.
