Medium, hazy, caramel with massive (big bottle cap pop), fine-bubbled, beige head / Sweet, delicate, carbonated, soda pop nose of root beer and herb / Light to medium body, super aggressive carbonation (open at sink - lot of swirling to calm it down), hint of tartness, with ultimately a beautiful, delicate balance and dry, lightly bitter, finish / Stylish, refined flavors nicely matching the stated spice & herb blend, over a base of some caramel, chocolate, cherry, plum, and oak / My bottle was shipped FL to Chicago, albeit 2 weeks ago, so I’ll assume that this accounts for the body. So, aside from the quirks of the carbonation and nose, this is just great. One of the best beers that I have ever had. Comparable to the Belgian ales of Jolly Pumpkin and Fantome. raradel (343) - Atlanti Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 1, 2011

From a bottle: the individual flavors of the spices come through nicely while still melding into a cohesive whole, very pleasant finish. overall great beer SPDickerman (1315) - Texas, USA - MAR 14, 2012
Pours brownish plum with a large tan head. Smells like plums and other dark fruits, with hints of spices. Taste is mild, hints of spices and fruits. Medium-bodied with a prickly texture and lively carbonation, Cigar City Sugar Plum finishes with a mild sweetness. Oakes (18873) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 2, 2009
Dark brown. Thick head. Light muddiness. Huge aroma - plums, sugar, muscovado and deep fruitiness. Smooth dark chewy malts, brown sugar, big plum character and light smoke. Excellent.

Bottle courtesy of theCheeseman. May have been my favorite of the epic night. Pours a cloudy dark brown with not much head. Smells like my spice cabinet, with ginger, cinnamon, and candied fruit. The flavor gets real interesting, with a black tea note that is intoxicating, especially combined with the light smoke. If you go in expecting a big sweet Xmas ale you will be disappointed, but a supremely interesting brew! Peacehammer (627) - California, USA - JAN 13, 2012
Dark brown pour with one finger tan head. Very fruity aroma. Strong earthy tones to start with, some light spices on the back end. Not the flavor I was expecting given the aroma. Full bodied, but not tough to drink. Big points for this beer still maintaining its brown ale characters but still showing its fruit and spice flavors. hayden1215 (321) - Ohio, USA - MAR 16, 2012

Entering ratings from old notebook- Thanks retorp for bringing this to a tasting. Pours brown-red with an off-white head. Nose is spicy- cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of dark fruit. Flavor is caramel, fruit, and spice with cinnamon and lingering spiciness. Very enjoyable, albeit low abv for some CCB beers.
