COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Tocobaga lived off the bounty of Tampa Bay hundreds of years before the arrival of the Spanish in the 1500’s. They were potters, tool makers and the only Florida natives to grow maize. The large platform mounds they built are still with us today, with one of the largest found near Old Tampa Bay in Safety Harbor, Florida. Climb to the top, and with a little imagination, you can see Tampa Bay as they did. Graphic design by Eric Swanson. Recipe by Tim Ogden.

12oz Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium caramel brown with a small (1 finger or less) off white rocky head that reduced to a large puddle and medium collar, with very good streaky lacing. The aroma was of a light bread malt, pine and citrus hops and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit) and a mild fruity ester. It tasted lightly bitter with a nice malty sweetness, a hint of caramel and a slight fruitiness early on, and then it became very hoppy with a big grapefruit presence towards the end. The flavor was about average in duration with a slightly sweet hoppy citrus taste that was left to hang out a tad longer. Mouthfeel was almost medium in body and dry in texture with a moderate carbonation. Overall this was a brew that possessed a bold hoppiness with mild fruity sweetness and a smooth drinkability. This one a really enjoyed and plan on drinking again...

12 oz can at home. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, some earthy notes, a hint of citrus, decent enough amber but it’s still an amber.

4 week old can from a trade with a guy who’s not on RB I think. Hazy dark amber-brownish color with creamy beige head. Aroma is piney, some tropical fruits, bready, a bit spicy malts. Aroma is still quite standard. Taste is huge starfruit, passionfruit, lots of juicy hops, only then some caramel malt base shines through. Light-bodied, maybe a bit too light even, but it has an oily texture. Medium carbonation. The aroma reminded me of, for instance, a 523 (which I usually get very fresh), but the flavour is so light-footed, fresh and lieblich, especially for this ABV. A real revelation!

Draft @ Brewery. Pours a clear reddish amber beer with a small off white head on top. Aroma has loads of red fruits, sweet sugars, mild citrus. Flavor is firmly bitter with loads of citrus fruits and tropical fruits with a side of caramel. Nicely carbonated, long light bitter aftertaste. Nice one.

Boa!

On tap at House of brewz Ft Myers beach. Very malty caramel and apples aroma. Taste follows suit but with some resiny hops. Good but not my personal fave. Lots of sweetness and balanced dry hops but just doesn’t come together for me.
