Serviceable DIPA enjoyed at the CC Tasting Room. Decent drinkability. A surprisingly small amount of hop aroma, a little head. Some orange taste. Big IBU not too palate erasing.

Amber orange pour, mostly white head. Flavors of grapefruit, sour orange notes, lemon peel, grass, spicy hops, juicy, bitter and a bit soapy...but in a good way.

Tap at Kickbacks for RBWG JAX. Pours a clear reddish orange. Spotty, white lacing. Nose is sticky candies, butterscotch, vanilla, caramel. Taste is dusty, massive butterscotch candy, huge caramel, sticky all the way. Not my favorite direction for this style.

Sampled at Churchkey during CBC week. Pours a clear orange with some cloudy, white head. Nose is nice, fruity, mango, melon, malt, honey, pine, orange zest. Flavor is sweet, malty, orange zest, scallion, mango, tropical fruit. Full, sticky finish. I have come to expect CCB beers to be messy, but this was a solid DIPA.

Draft on tap at Cigar City Tap Room (Tampa, FL). Pours a nice deeper orange amber hue, nice darkness in the body, glowing orange edges shine. Mellow haziness in the body, frothy offwhite head atop dies to a film, laces ok. Aromas are grapefruit and florals, some toasty malts, a bit of carmelized malts, biscuits, and bread. Firm grapefruit slanted hoppiness grows, that malt still pushes through. Touches of tangerines, lemon, and florals. Initial is medium bodied, a touch girthy, soapy and grapefruit hops, some oranges, florals. Touches of fruity juice, caramel, and biscuits. Middle is a touch sticky, toasty with some resiny grapefruit, gentle citrus, fruity sweet elements as we trail out. A firm bitterness, but I wouldn’t call it dominant. Some nice fruit flavors, a bit sweet at times for me. Soapy, oranges, and caramel, a touch sweet, toasty. Solid beer. Would grab the Invasion over it though, personally.
