Sample from the growler I brought to Woodshop via "askdrtodd", thanks again for this one Todd. Pours a mostly clear amber with a small soapy off white head. Big nose of caramel apples, brown sugar and a hint of booze. Flavor was sweet caramel and some heat, finished quite smooth. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 22, 2010
Does it really matter what I write about this? I mean I have been proclaimed a homer and not really a fair CCB rater. Well this shit is good as fuck. Tons better than the original. One of the better BA beers CCB has ever made. Delicious. The calvados barrel really does wonders. Thanks to snojerk for this one. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - FEB 22, 2010
Tap @ Rattle N Hum. Poured a deep hazed brown color. The aroma was a pleasant mix of apples, brown sugar and caramel. The flavor was of apples and brown sugar with some spice on the finish. It was similar to the aroma but much bigger. Some vanilla showed as well. Medium to full bodied and warming. Tsotsi (178) - Florida, USA - FEB 21, 2010
Growler thanks to Solan. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head. Aromas are of caramel, brown sugar, slight apple scent and sweetness. On the palate its like the nose where it is sweet, raisins, some toffee flavors and finishes off dry from the hops. Not much of the apple showing up on the palate. Good beer though. Woodshop 5.0, I wish people would just call apple brandy calvados. Pours brown with a tan head. Nose is sweet, with hints of apple. Taste is sweet, calvados, nice big brew. Quite nice.

Pours really dark burnt amber but transparent. A few big bubbles hang out on top, but not much else in the way of head. Big boozy nose with waves of lemon-lime soda, marzipan, and other interesting complexities. Palate was super smooth showcasing burnt sugar and sweetness...but, a bit more one dimensional than I was expected after the nose. However, still a nice smooth relaxing sipper. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 21, 2010

Draft at RnH. Pours deep brown with a thin head. Sweet brandy notes dominate the aroma, with toffee and some fruity sweetness as well. The flavor has brandy, fruit, and some toffee like malty sweetness. On the sweet side, but pretty good nonetheless. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - FEB 20, 2010
Thanks to whomever brought this growler to the Woodshop 5.0 tasting.
I enjoyed the aromas and flavors of apple & brown sugar. Nicely done.

On tap at the Rattle n’ Hum Cigar City event. Dark amber pour. Aroma of green apple, caramel, dark whiskey, burnt caramel, and brown sugar. The flavor is just as sweet but more balanced: caramel, vanilla bean, and smooth bourbon. There’s a sweet stickiness of caramel and bourbon in the finish. With all these sweet flavors, I’m surprised it’s not over the top.
