COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For the third bottle release of the El Catador Club Fourth Edition, we are proud to introduce Bourbon Barrel-aged Warmer Winter.

This will be the first release of a barrel-aged version of our perennial cool weather release. The strong ale went into barrels in 2015 and was bottled earlier this month.

Upon pouring, you will be greeted by a boozy nose of dates, raisins and red apple is complimented by light wood aromas and a touch of vanilla. The palate of this huge beer boasts molasses, brown sugar and maple syrup flavors and a drying, tannic finish from extensive aging in white oak bourbon barrels.

750mL bottle pours with a murky chestnut colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sugary residual and reduced sugars, smooth thin bourbon, molasses covered figs and dates. The taste delivers smooth rich sipping goodness with molasses, sugary malts and then smooth soft sweet malt nuanced bourbon. Ti midway the fig to date toprune sweet dark fruityesters peak out to be heard. Damn. This is smooth and integrated with only a modest level of barrel influence and verylittle sense of the ABV. Great sipper.

Tasted from a bottle. Pours black with a thick light tan head. Aroma is big time bourbon with maple syrup and some dark fruits. Mouthfeel is thick chewy and sticky. Definitely a sipper. Flavors of caramel, toffee, maple syrup, bourbon, dates and raisins. Very well done BA Barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle share at Mon Petit Cafe, Stuttgart. Very strong bourbon character, raisins, biscuits, caramel, vanilla. Very sweet with wood in the finish.

Bottle at the Plan Bee Hive BBQ. Pours a hazed brown with a thin white head. Big bourbon and soy sauce and umami on the nose. Medium bodied, big and sweet, loads of fruit and caramel. Long wood, bourbon, fruit. A touch cloying and old.

Bottle. Pours hazy mahogany, small tan head. Aroma is interesting. Rating later. Huh

750 mL bottle. Deep brown with a big khaki head. Smells of bourbon, nutty malts, brown sugar, lots of booze and sugar. Tastes of bourbon, lots of oak. Strong caramel malt and brown sugar throughout. Bitter back end. Heavy and boozy. Very heavy. Very much a struggle to drink because of its size. Dessert in small quantities, but undrinkable in any quantity larger than that.

If this was really "only" 9.6% it was a bit hot & overly sweet. Tasted and smelled like 13%. Murky brown, with an initially deep roast and fruit leather character than eventually got drowned out as it warmed by the heavy handed bourbon. Pleasant, but over the top. I prefer the more complex and easier to put down base beer by a couple tenths.

Poured lighter brown with a beige head. Aroma was of big barrel, caramel, dark fruits. Flavor similar, a little hot, but complex enough. CCB is redeeming myself a little bit in my eyes now.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Big bourbon bouquet. Huge caramel malts give way to cola, bourbon, vanilla, and oak. Good body and mouthfeel.

Bottle share at Brew by Numbers. Big thanks to whoever imported this dirty whale. Pours black with dirty tan head. Aroma is treacle, toffee, vanilla and coconut. Taste is a subtle sweet hit, with vanilla, coconut, dried fruits with the bourbon finish. Fantastic.
