The energetic spiciness of coriander, licorice, and flower petals osmotically join caramel maltiness through its creamy mouthfeel...Elegant hop bitterness ably supports this sweet spiciness...A veritable bouquet which cannot be refused...

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 In short: An original juicy spicy Belgian Ale. Tasty and very good.
How: Bottle from after4ever, thanks a lot Tom! (complete re-rate, previously sampled at Montreal’s Mondial beer-fest 2006)
The look: Clear blonde body with many small particles and a very small white head.
In long: Complex nose with its cereal, vanilla, bubble gum and hops. Yeasty, very yeasty. Rather fruity with apricots upfront. Very floral too and obvious usage of spices although no specific spice really stands out. Moderately sweet. Oily juicy body. A little alcohol warmth in the otherwise short finish. My description doesn’t do justice to this beer originality. Pretty nice beer named after a creature presently playing bowling with Elvis on a deserted island.

Pours a lightly hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is orange and spice. Taste is smooth and juicy with orange peel. Standard Belgian but pretty good.

I shared this bottle with some "swillin" friends of mine who quickly came up with the nickname of "Yak Semen"...At any rate, I enjoyed this brew quite a bit. The aroma was a light blueberry with honeysuckle mixed in. Hazy yellow appearance. Medium body with good carbonation. Blueberry and light citrus flavors up front--with some interesting light spices in the back ground. Very interesting and suprisingly easy to drink.

Appears a hazy, semi-transparent light gold. Solid amounts of CO2 pump up towards the top despite the remnants of the plentiful yeasty chunks. A small off white head slowly fades into a mild, foamy cap. Scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of candy coated nuts ala Boston Baked Beans candy(remember those things?), along with lemongrass, vanilla, golden raisins, raw sugar, & ripe pears. Taste is of the mentioned aromas along with flavors of refreshing carambola, honeydew, and a light grape tartness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, fizzy up front with white grapes, chardonnay/pinot notes that slide along the palate. It drinks sort of like a light champagne with some alcohol noticed in the mix.

Cloudy yellow gold hue, with a frothy white head, yeasty fruitiness of citrus fruits, mostly grapefruit, lemon, lime, with even a note of pineapple, with a touch of spicy coriander, ginger, and pale malt aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice pineapple yeastiness, with some spicy ginger and coriander accents, sweet pale malt, hint of floral hops, leading towards an soft acidic fruitiness and faint hop bittering finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light straw color with many floaters. Aroma of sweet spiced apple and yeast. Very light on the palete and a crisp dry bite. Taste similiar to the aroma and a sweet bitter aftertaste. Strange brew, not really to style, but I enjoyed it.

330 ml bottle. Deep golden brown pour with a spare light tan head that drops off quickly. Aroma of figs, dates, and dark caramel. Smooth and rich, lightly carbonated, with a medium to full body. Molasses sweetneess up front that is offset by some peppery bitterness. Finishes slightly sweet, but there is a pleasing light tartness as well. Easy to drink, and the alcohol not really a factor.

Bottle. Hazy deep golden with a big offwhite head. Fruity aroma, some prunes. Nice raisins and even hints of nutty flavours. Fluffy mouthfeel. Different and enjoyable.
