This was a very strange Fantome beer...it was pretty good, though. This was way mor red than I every expected out f a saison, but then again, it is Fantome. Aroma was biased to the fruit side of things, there was bit of funkyness in the aroma. Not very sour overall, there was a sweet sense, and as JK says a bit os balsamic vinegar, kind of reminds me of the aged balasamic vinegar steak from The Capital Grille. It was quite enjoyable.

This brew is courtesy of Footbalm.Cloudy amber color, bubbly white head.Sour fruity aroma. The flavor comes off as much the same as the aroma with a sour taste some fruit showing and a bit of a barnyardy and funk.Over all it wasn’t to bad,and kind of pleasant.Very nice brew.

Thanks to Footbalm for sharing this rare beer. This is a dark red saison. Some sediment in the bottle and glass. Considerable carbonation. Aroma has yeast and fermenting fruit and some barnyard as well. This beer is on the sour side but it is not very sour for a sour beer. Very nice, more fruit, some balsamic vinegar, weird yeasty flavors. It is a shame I will probably never see it again.

Bottle from batkins. Medium amber colored with some chunky monkey sediment floating about. Decent light brown head, fair lacing. Modest funky aroma, some fruit and malt. Seemingy sweetish for a fantome. Moderate bitterness, basement flavors. Quite nice.

Thanks to Matta for this one. Pours hazy rubyish deep coppery with 3-finger tan creamy head. Aroma of funky caramelly malt, fruit, spice, vinous notes, and some brown sugar and nuts. The flavor is caramel malty, with that characteristic funky peaty note, and some figgy fruit, with brown sugary and slightly nutty finish. The taste was sweeter than the aroma might dictate. Gets a bit tarter as it warmed, but remained a complex drinking experience throughout.

Dry and a bit thin for fantome, I was expecting more body, but still was just as wild as most of their other beers. The herbal character came out much more as it warmed and led to a bit of a peppery finish. Light citrus fruitiness complimented the dryness well.

I found a bottle of this interesting beer in Chicago. The body was a cloudy rusty red color. The head was a medium khaki color and lasted a long time. The aroma was oranges with some blue cheese and hay. There was also flowers. You always can smell a Fantome, no mistake. The taste was funky weird peaches with some hay. There were also hints of chocolate and a hint of cinnamon. As usual, Fantome has an interesting and very unique beer.

Aroma is malty with dark fruits and a touch of spice. Body is a murky river water brown and holds a two finger thick tan head that takes its time settling down. Fore is spicy with a touch of caramel flavor and dark fruits. Has the typical substantial Fantome mouthfeel and a bit of carmelized toffee in the finish along with a musty and herbal bitterness. Not the best Fantome, but not a bad beer at all.

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2007 Really underwhelming. I get the feeling that the Circus beers don’t hold up on the trip overseas. When I pour the bottle out, I see a ton of weird herbs in the sediment but it’s not a very intense drink. It’s kind of bland, flat, and buttery for a Fantome. And buttery in a not-so-fresh way. Considering I’ve had four and they were all this way, I would say that this is a problem with the beer not the particular bottle. Too bad. Nevertheless, it IS a Fantome, and a good deal more interesting and rich than other beers.
