3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours deep ruby/brown with a lacy, light beige head. Aroma of caramel and cereal, plus a little toast and chocolate from the malts, and a decent amount of hops for this beer. Flavor a good blend of everything. Smooth texture, but could be a little thicker. A pretty good barley wine.
Bottle that has been cellared for the past four years. Pours amber brown with a small white head. Aroma is earthy, toffee, bready and just a touch of nuts. Taste is sweet with faint bitters. Alcohol is well hidden, drinks smooth and overall a nice barleywine for a cold evening. Damico (3146) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 29, 2014
10 year old bottle from my cuzzy, thank you! Pours muted unclear amber with a small beige head that goes quickly. Aroma brings sweet and crispy amber sweet malts with some raisin character. Flavor has a unique hoppy mint character really prevalent on my tongue the comes in perfectly with sweet raisin like and figgy malts. whitehotg8 (85) - Illinois, USA - AUG 11, 2014
Had a three year old bomber out of my basement "cellar". It had a nice sediment that I barely disturbed upon pour into a globe glass. Color is a deeper caramel amber hue with a small off white head that fades quickly. Aroma is all sweet on the nose with just a hint of some delicate hop. Taste is sweet, malty, sugary with just a hint of hops trying to keep up; lingering on your palate. Overall a pretty solid example of the style for sure. Pick up two, drink one fresh and put the other away for a while. Ericular (1042) - Minnesota, USA - APR 17, 2014
Sampled at the Rapids Liquor tasting. Up front it’s light-bodied with some cherry and dark fruit, then gains weight towards the end finishing more like I’m used to in a barley wine. There is zero alcohol evident here, so it goes down relatively easy. jgb9348 (6583) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAR 2, 2014
Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a single centimetre tall tan head and a nice bit of suspended particles/yeast noticeable. Aroma of pit fruits, strong toasted malt, nuts, earth, caramel and quite a bit of toffee - nice and not too pungent of alcohol notes. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong earthy flavour with a subdued sweetness, a good bit of alcohol and toasted malt and some light oak and spices. Aftertaste shows a pleasant mix of dry oak, vanilla, toffee, yeast and some light earthy notes. Overall, a good relatively mild barley wine that shows it’s age nicely and doesn’t come across to bitter - but has some good complexity and a smooth sweetness. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Ramsey Liqours in Ramsey, New Jersey on 22-February-2013 for US$10.49 sampled at home in Washington on 01-March-2014.

750 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have a sw eet caramel malt base with herbal and citrus hops, some earthy notes too. Good bitterness to the finish. Some toffee and wood there too. I liked this even though I usually lean more toward English barley wines. annunz123 (975) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 27, 2013
Biscuits, raisins, caramel, and a fair amount of alcohol in the aroma. Malty and somewhat sweet flavor. Drying alcohol and a little smoke in a somewhat harsh finish. I’ve really liked most of Cisco’s big beers. This was decent but a little disappointing. Headbanger (4022) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 1, 2013
22oz bottle 11/1/13 (Binny’s Naperville)-50° in Snifter-Pours murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted caramel, dried fruit, malt, and fruity. Taste of the same with a bit of alcohol along with more sweetness. This full bodied brew is not bad but a bit weaker than other BW’s I have had. ROGUE (2216) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - SEP 17, 2013
On tap at Capones .Pours a hazy deep brownish amber color with a thick, creamy, lasting, tan head. Aroma is very malty, fruity with loads of esters and alcohol. Taste is malty, but not really sweet, with toasty bread, hints of caramel, candied-fruit cake and pineapple. Loads of alcohol warmth. Full bodied with too much carbonation. 750ml bottle, shared by alexsdad06. Somewhat of a more clear orange amber color, made hazy with lots of fine particles in the body. Thin off-white head with good retention. Loose ropes of lace. Orange and pepper in the nose. Light caramel malt. Bigger body. Smooth, soft carbonation. Lightly dry texture. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet. Light bit of alcohol heat in the finish, but it’s not bad for 12%. Good spicy, hoppy flavor. Some red fruit, light caramel malt, burnt sugars. Tasty, complex, more bitter and assertive barleywine.
