don’t know what the hell they were going for with this mess. looking forward to another brandy BA pumpkin beer, but you get little to no brandy or pumpkin from this. just an off spiciness and hop presence that doesn’t belong. 750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours deep copper/brown with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of a little rum, some caramel and darker malts, pumpkin pie, and light spices. Flavor the same with a nice amount of rum and pumpkin, but the malts are a little much. Average to smooth texture. A pretty good beer. Pours deep gold into a tulip. Off-white soapy head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Smoke, slight rum and nutmeg aromas. Thin with sweet spices and pumpkin upfront turning to smoke before the lasting dry bitter earth finish. ROGUE (2216) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - SEP 17, 2013
On tap at Capones. Pours a dark amber color with one inch off white head. Smells of rum, sweet dark fruits, pumpkin, dough, spices, some light smoke, and bready malts. Tastes of pumpkin, dough, rum, oak, vanilla, sticky sweet dark fruity malts, earthy notes, spice, smoke, bready malts, toasted malts, and light caramel malts. Taste definitely has more pumpkin, and less smoke. Medium body and low carbonation, body is pretty smooth and creamy.

Bottle:   Deep caramel, moderate frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Odd aroma of smoke, charred wood, strong spices (yet not sweet or bright), with subtle Rum.   Not sure what about this is Pumpkin as the spices aren’t anything I would consider Pumpkin like.   Its like a strong tree bark aroma.   Soft smoke, dull spices (yeah, tree bark), and mild Rum on the tongue.   This one is a bit astringent, needs to be sweeter.   When I first heard of this beer I thought to myself, Sounds like something Cigar City would do and it would be great.   However, this is not a Cigar City Rum infused Smoked Pumpkin Ale (which you know would be fantastic), but instead a very mediocre beer with odd barkish spicy flavors, mild smoke, and some Rum.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Lingering tree bark, shrubs, and light Rum.   My hopes were up for this one, but nope, it was not like I expected.   Something this bizarre, smoked, pumpkin, and rum, can only be pulled off by a few breweries... A - pours hazy dark amber with 1 finger white head. Quite effervescent with thick gelatinous floaters. S - light smokey/oaky notes, strong musty hops, citrus notes, vegetal malts. No rum. Quite vinous. M - medium body, dry ending. Fluffy carb. Lingering bitterness. T - muddled tastes. Oak, smoke, very vinous, vegetal malts, citrus and resiny hops. O - much like an dipa. Capped 750 from Bine & Vine. Pours dark copper with a creamy/foamy beige head. Aroma of light pie spice with a little smoke. There’s a strong aroma with more pieces, but I can’t identify them.Med + body. Flavor is very mixed. Smoke; pie spice; veg; oak; rum/booze. It’s actually very well put together, the flavor is acceptable, but it is way out of any "normal" category. Finishes as flavored, but there seems to be a cinnamon note coming out. On paper this sounds great. $11.75 a few weeks ago at Bottle Craft in North Park, 750mL bottle. Hazy medium orange with a 1 1/2 finger creamy yellowish white beige head, pretty good retention. I get peated malt smokiness in the aroma, misc spices and little old wood and burnt plastic I’m also getting some nondescript fruity tang. Flavor adds some earthy peppery notes, some rum. Not getting any of the aforementioned tang. Burps the burnt plastic, though tastes better than it smells. Cinnamon and nutmeg come through once it warms. Doesn’t taste too strong, no idea on the ABV. Earthy bitterness peaked at a 4-5 in the dry finish. Light to medium body with creamy moderate carbonation.
