3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle (but the label states 1PT., 9.4fL OZ). A fun take on the wit for sure. Pours a fairly crystal light gold with a frothy but sustained small bright white head. Aroma initially presents a touch of oak balanced by some subtle spice (orange peel being the most dominant). Warming brings out some agave nectar, white pepper and maybe some allspice? A touch of creamy wheat rounds out the nose. Flavor is creamy from the wheat with some slight tartness from the oak aging. Some very light spice flavors with green apples and white grape flavors as well. Medium bodied. Creamy texture. Slightly tart initially on the finish, but the creamy wheat takes hold on the back of the tongue. A unique wit that I could session the hell out of in the summer. Not overly complex, but what it’s lacking is fully made up by it’s insane drinkability. Thanks Matt!

Comment: Dégustation Manseau 2016.
Portrait: Une robe dorée trouble avec une mince couche de mousse. Un nez de vanille, de vin blanc et noix de coco. Une bouche assez surette avec des notes de vin et fruits tropicaux.
750ml 2013 bottle from trade with Don a little while ago. Aroma: great oaky, vanilla, lemony, woody. App: cloudy dark pale / light golden, minimal white head. Taste and palate: thin body well backed with a slightly lively carbonation, moderate tart dry acidity finish. Overall: pretty good. This one aged pretty good. I didn’t get to try a fresh one but this one is really oaky and woody, not too sweet, really well balanced and tastes fresh and refreshing. Really interesting in the good way. Glad I waited a bit so it could develop even more. Minderbinder (3469) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 20, 2016

Bottle (750 ml) shared at tasting. Clear pale golden with a small white head, ok retention, leaving a bubbly ring of foam and little lacing. Flavors of peaches, white wine, oak, vanilla, mild spiciness, brettanomyces, mangoes and grains. Taste is gently tart and features some oak and winey character. Medium body, maybe a bit thin. Moderate carbonation. Vinous mouthfeel. Tropical finish. Pretty easy drinking Sour Ale with a rather mild and peachy profile. Interesting oak and white wine features. Good. mathieuc (4000) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 8, 2016
Pours a cloudy golden with a thin white film on top that doesn’t leave much lacing. Nose is of fresh mint and fruits. Taste follows the same pattern with fruits, oak and white wine. Moderate body and carbonation with a lightly vinous mouthfeel. I thought it was alright, I would certainly pick up a fresh bottle if given the occasion.

Draft at Capones in Norristown, PA.
Pours a hazy pale golden orange color with golden straw edges and a 1.5 finger white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic streaks of lace left behind.
Odd aroma with a mix of lactic funk, tropical fruit and chemicals. Smells sort of like sun tan lotion with lots of wood/oak and coconut. Like a wild ale dosed with coco butter.
Medium bodied with a really strange amalgam of flavors. Tart with strong citrus acidity, sourdough bread and lactic funk cut by a strong earthy wood presence that gives off a strong coconut milk flavor. Dry and somewhat astringent finish. Not a bad beer just a very weird combination of flavors.
