COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

Bright clear gold beer with a small white head. Palate is minerally crisp. Unpleasant soapy flavours lead to bland malt. Whsiper of citrus. Yuk!

Bottle from GBBF 2013 drunk at home. How can a 3.8% beer be a premium lager? Oh well. Clear pale ish gold thick lasting white head. Aroma of some very light lemon. Its a very light lager. More like a UK golden ale than a lager. Not a premium lager at all. Light, easy drinking. Very ale like to be honest. Tastes like an ale yeast. Its an ok golden ale. Some citrus hop kick on the finish. Mostly lemon and lime.

Can @ home. Clear golden pour with a white head. Smells of lemony hops, some straw, and pale cracker malt. Hints of melon and sweet orange. Not bad. Fairly good cracker and biscuit malt on the palate. Light bitterness and astringency on the finish. Somewhat sweet. Decent citrus peel hops, mostly lemon zest. Not bad.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours gold with a foamy 3 finger white head. Mild citrus/floral aroma. Near medium body with very foamy carbonation. Theres a sharp bitterness. Its more herbal than anything else. This is mild in malt - strong in bitter. Finishes more bitter than many.

(12oz bottle) Medium white head that leaves some lacing, atop a hazy straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit/orange. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit/orange. Soft light body, great for summer days. Easily the most flavorful light beer I have tried.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear golden with a medium frothy white head. Aroma of hay, light graininess, a bit of bread and floral and grassy hops. Sweetish malt flavor with a hint of grain and a clean mild floral hops bitterness. Medium-bodied. Tasty, crisp and refreshing.
