Mahogany color with an off-white head. Nose is surprisingly roasty for a dubbel. Some light sweetness, and just a bit of dark fruit. Not really much in the way of yeast or esters, either. The flavor is far too bitter and roasty for my liking. Minimal to moderate sweetness with just a hint of toffee and molasses. Not really any esters. Okay at best.
Draft at Imbibe Wine on 7/3/12. Nose is roast, white bread, candisugar, and cloves. Very lightly hazy copper brown with a big, heavy lacing, beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, yeasty, cloves, and lightly bitter. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - JUL 23, 2012
I had this on tap at Cismontaneís tasting room. Although it looks like a dubbel, it didnít have the dark/dried fruit sweetness that I would have expected and the body didnít seem full enough.
