4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap better weather fest: App: s black with thick tan head. Aroma of malts and roast with a sweet brown sugar marshmallow back end. Taste is aroma but not as sweet with a bit of barrel oak coming through. Palate is thick and chewy. great winter beer. quite nice.
500ml bottle. Jet black colour with small, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige head. Vinous, slightly alcoholic aroma, notes of blue grapes and dark berries, slightly chocolately basis, oaky overtones. Taste is vinous, minimally alcoholic, notes of red wine, blue grapes, dark berries, a tannic touch, hint of oak, a bitter-spicy touch of fruit parings; the moderately sweet chocolately basis gains more ground in the last third, supplanting the tart partitions of the red wine flavours. Warming alcoholic finish expands into deeper gullet regions. JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - FEB 21, 2015
Bottle sample at the tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 2/5/15. Darkest brown pour with a thick light brown head. Aroma of red wine, tart grape and roast. Tart grape flavor with light chocolate notes before a roasty finish. More wine than beer, but not bad. wedgie9 (2702) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 12, 2015
Tasted on 2/11/15 from a capped bottle, thanks to Alex for sharing. Pours completely opaque, nearly black with a thin tan head that leaves thin, wispy lace. The nose is really a really interesting blend of funky vinous oak with traditional roasted dark chocolate and coffee malt, with just a touch of vanilla richness. The flavor is all red wine up front, moving to tons of funk, with the vanilla, molasses, and bitter dark chocolate on the back. The body is full with light carbonation and a long, very funky vinous and bitter roasted finish. fonefan (49305) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JAN 28, 2015

Bottle shared at chriso’s pre-Christmas tasting. Label says 8.5%. Pours clear, black-brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma holds tangy dark malts, dark berries, mild cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with gooey, ripe and tangy berries, dark fruits, suggestions of something a little buggy and funky, a bit of chocolate, burnt wood, earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming and chewy on the finish, a little tannic, with notes of cocoa, roast, charred wood and earth, dried and leathery dark fruits.
