Black color. Dark caramel and wood aroma, some glue too. Good body strength, yet the mouthfeel is lean; nice degree of sweetness; the dark malt and dark chocolate flavor is very nice, with a touch of marshmallow in the end. Alcohol warmth.
500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is very complex, with notes of oak, vanilla, bourbon barrels, and chocolate. Flavour is along the same lines, with lush notes of vanilla, bourbon barrels, chocolate and some oak. Super cohesive and complex, with not too much sweetness. Barrel aging done to perfection. Really excellent. jtclockwork (17070) - , New Jersey, USA - FEB 22, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with thick tan brown head. Nose and taste of roasted chocolate malt, toasted oats, vanilla, oak, bourbon barrel, fudge brownie and milk chocolate. Medium body. Finishes with a little bourbon kick. Body on the lighter side of medium for the ABV. As a consequence, the beer is a bit "hotter" than I’d like. brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 29, 2012
Black colored beer with a finger of khaki head. The nose starts off with a strong roasted malt note. A nice vanilla sweetness, some bourbon, wood, and a hint of alcohol. Lots of chocolate, too. The flavor has a nice balance of roast and sweetness. Good chocolate, vanilla, molasses, and bourbon. Roasted malt and coffee are also there. Some wood flavor and a hint of booze on the finish. Quite well done.

Bottle - Nice barrel notes and roast. Deep jet with a beige head. Sweet, Woody notes and some chocolate with a touch of coconut. Barrel heavy, but decent. bhensonb (15609) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 19, 2012
Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours black with a slight creamy dark tan head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. And definitely bourbon/vanilla. Full bodied. Flavor is oaky with vanilla, coffee, chocolate and oak? So there’s no coffee in this? Don’t agree. Finishes smooth, almost creamy. And bourbon. slowrunner77 (12582) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 23, 2014
"NO sign of 12% anywhere in this brew. Body was big, but not sticky or alcoholic. Not as deep as the best imperial stouts, but the bourbon aging was very nice - lots of vanilla, chocolate, and oak...and an odd but nice graham cracker flavor. Pretty nice rendition of a barreled stout."
