Named after the coulter big cone pine tree is a well balanced I.P.A. It brings the style of I.P.A. back to its roots. Brewed with a hint of rye for head retention and a deeper malt character, this brew has the best of all worlds, great hop aroma, a strong body and deceiving strength.

This beer is so sticky sweet and uninspired. Dull hop profile, under attenuated, sticky malt, abrasive Tylenol kick. No.

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours a clear copper with a gold hue and a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy citrus and sweet grains with a bit of resin backing. Flavor has earthy citrus supported by sweet grain, a bit of biscuit and a hint of resin.

Pours a mostly clear deep golden with an unremarkable white head. Whipped cream, pine, and citrus nose. Moderately pillowy and evaporating on the palate. Some citrus and pine. A cream note. Pretty bitter at the finish.

New batch has a lot of pungent hop aroma, great rye on the palate without being overwhelming. Pretty surprised by the alcohol content. Easy to put down, not to be missed.

Note on the labels, they seem to have changed branding a little bit and I like the new labels a lot. The beer is also awesome. Great example of a West Coast style IPA. Citrus, light-body, more aroma than bitterness, but definitely still tickles your taste buds. Love it!

Poured from a bottle. Deep gold with a hint of orange. White head with lots of lacing. Fruity aroma. The rye comes through in the taste. Decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

50cl bottle. Large off-white head atop muddy amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pine, some rye, grapefruit, light bread. Taste is moderately sweet, pine, some grapefruit, rye, light berry, faint alcohol. Medium body, some resin.

500ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a generous white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is pine and citrus with a hint of grains and other light fruits. Taste is a big pine and grapefruit hop bitterness with a more subdued caramel and fruity sweetness. Medium bodied with ample carbonation that tickles the tongue. Overall, this is a true delight. Recommended.

"Tastes like stale pineapples and cat pee", I blurted out to my roommate when I took my first sip of this. Not to suggest this beer is badly done - it has a round, full nose, interesting flavor profile, and a nice smooth finish that isn’t too bitter. I guess I just don’t care for the hop profile they used. I can’t find information about what that is, but it doesn’t seem to be my thing.

Bottle. It’s never a great sign when beer erupts from the bottle like a capped volcano. And this initially poured as 80% foam. It eventually settled into a hazy, golden-amber glass, with a defiant cap of rocky foam. There’s little to no distinguishable aroma. The beer drinks cleanly, with whispers of earthy and malty ales of the past. Hints of pine leaf, caramel and malt. Subtle sweet finish. (#5971, 5/17/2015)
