Bottle pours with a copper looking body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma is thick with malt sweetened spicy oak notes where there are murmurs of faint vague hoppiness off in the background. The taste starts with sharp spicy oak notes that are only slightly blunted by sweet maltiness laced with vanilla. To midway the spicy oak gives some ground to a sliver of pine hop bitterness that is very close in flavor to the spicy oak. Pretty nice firmly oaked brew. Sample at the Ale Wine & Spirits beer tasting on 04/03/2014: Murky amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, citrus and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky vanilla, resiny hops and malt. The finish is hoppy with a subtle oak and fruit aftertaste. Pretty good overall. fitwitchik (433) - Ohio, USA - MAR 30, 2014
Poured into a snifter a cloudy amber orange with a beige head that didn’t stick around for long.
Aroma is sweet hoppy a bit of rye--booze evident.
Flavor is strongly hops with rye. Caramel. Citrus/light pine tree.
Quite a lot going on here yet it finishes so completely on oak chips so smoothly that I keep coming back to buy another bottle. Yeah, think I am hooked. cernjoh (188) - Ohio, USA - MAR 30, 2014
Aroma is that of alcohol and some hops. Appearance is cloudy amber with 1 finger white head. Taste is bitter up front with lots of alcohol. Bitterness and strong alcohol taste masks what little hop flavor there is. Palate is pleasant but strong bitter finish detracts from experience. Overall I’d suggest if you want to try this, try one a friend already has. :( kcorum10 (349) - Idaho, USA - AUG 24, 2013
This was a surprisingly well crafted barrel aged DIPA. I must say, these usually don’t work for me, but kuddos to you Cismontane!

Cloudy off orange hazy pour dense white head with thick lacing. Definite alcohol in the aroma definitive oak qualities some vanilla an off orange skin under a lot of malt and some grass. Full well coated palate, finishes creamy. Flavor is sweet lots of malt and a dry oak and grass finish some fruits and raisins. Something just a little off in it but tastes good. bb (9789) - Alamo, California, USA - OCT 29, 2012
Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream head. light grapefruit aroma. Rich malt and oak flavor with grapefruit and pine. Medium-plus bodied. Good bitterness. Rich malt and oak linger with grapefruit and light caramel. marcus (10668) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 28, 2012
On tap at Beer Revolution. Pours reddish copper with a thin off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a fruity carbonated caramel malt flavor with a burning alcohol trail. A really nice sipper. VsXsV (4544) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 23, 2012
Bottle. Hazy amber with small to medium off-white head. Aroma of oak, pine, caramel, biscuit, lemongrass and some light booze. Taste is light sweet and medium to high bitter with some caramel and booze. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty decent but I don’t entirely get along with it.
