750 ml bottle. A hazy amber beer with a medium sized disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of dark fruits, caramel and light licorice. Fruity flavour with some spices, quite sweet but balanced by the right grassy hop bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite long finish with medium bitterness. There is something in both aroma and flavour taht keeps this beer from being better. However more than drinkable. FrankJohansen (3622) - Sabro, DENMARK - NOV 28, 2007
Bottle. Clear amber colour with a medium beige creamy moslty lasting head. Weak malty arom and taste with notes of caramel and berries. LordCorkscrew (1774) - Ronco Scrivia (GE), ITALY - SEP 21, 2007
Skinnyviking (9767) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 8, 2007
Bottle. High creamy lasting light brown head. Hazy dark brown body. Mild roast malt aroma with caramel notes. Mild caramel coffee flavor with nuts and little hops. Low carbonation. Long sweet aftertaste. fiulijn (21506) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 17, 2007
Beautiful dark amber color; persistent creamy head. Aromaof malt and cereals. Good body strength, medium sweetness, good malt and caramel taste, supported by a good bitterness level. A solid and very pleasant Strong Belgian Ale.

The head is modest on this dark brown Italian. The aroma is malty and fruity and the flavour is sweet and malty with notes of plum and raisin and a hint of harsh butter. The bitterness is moderate in the finish, but one thing is certain, this beer doesn’t give credit to it’s name IMO JorisPPattyn (10113) - BELGIUM - NOV 20, 2006
For once, may they forgive me, rated from memory Dark brown beer with good, but not persistent dark yellow head. Very dark malty and spicey nose, totally in the Ardennes style. Nose gets fully confirmed with earthy, leafy, dry-spicey and near coffee notes. Completely in the Achouffe/Fantome/Du Bocq style, including a hint of too many fusels. Less fuller bodied than the taste would have you, a bit thinnish, connecting with a touch of sourness at the swallowing. Named after the beer of Maigret - hence the Walloon character?

75 cl bottle at Mentana 104, Parma. Cloudy bronze-brown colour with a creamy offwhite head. Raisins and potent nutty nose. sweet fruity flavours, met by semi-dryish strong nuttiness. Medium body. Lives up to its name. DougShoemaker (3146) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 6, 2006
Fruity malt aroma, hazy orange/red, wearing a tiny custard head. Tastes of malt, toffee, and butterscotch. Medium bodied, sweet, and very well balanced. Unique! Thanks for sharing R! tsp (113) - DENMARK - DEC 29, 2005
(Bottle 0.7L) Pours red amber, with beige fluffy head. Taste is fresh with dominant notes of citrus, bitter hops and perhaps honey. The nose contains notes of apples/cirus and sweet malts. All in all, this beer is very enjoyable. I can’t wait to taste my next beer from Cittavecchia.. :-)
