My personal mass produced Beer of Choice when I want to pound down a six pack or find in on tap (not often do I find it on tap) The original recipie of Heileman’s Old Style (or so I was told) that uses the Original Old Style artesian spring water and Kruesiened. (sp?). You will notice that when Pabst moved production from LaCrosse to Miller, they removed those descriptions from the OldStyle Can. Yes, it not Sam Adams, nor a Cask Condiitioned Ale, but it is a very good Macro Beer (City Brewery is the 5th largest Brewery in the US). It is not brewed to be a $7 a pint micro and should not be compared.

This, along with LaCrosse Light, are my beer of choice! I have to drive over 30 miles just to by it. BRING LaCROSSE TO MILWAUKEE COUNTY!

Very light and unassuming lager. Nothing out of the ordinary. A baby step for a BMC drinker to try getting into micros...

Courtesy of Vinny’s at the La Crosse airport. Clear straw color with a fizzy white head that disappears quickly. Nil lacing. Aroma of mild hops and wet paper bag. Light-bodied and crisp with a decent hoppy character, along with a hint of malt. The finish is bitter but not flavorful. All in all this is an average Lager.

Pretty good for what it is. An ordinary light lager. Yellow color, very light and simple hop and malt flavor. No flaws.

TerryR (391) - Oswego, Illinois, USA - SEP 16, 2005
Aroma of corn with a bit of sourness to it. Yellow color with a head that disappeared instantly. Corny sweet taste with very little hop character. It has a fairly full body. Pretty close to the Old Style of the 70’s. I wasn’t a big fan back then either.

Hendrix (14) - Berkeley, Illinois, USA - SEP 5, 2005
Tastes EXACTLY like that Great "Old Style" that G.Heilman used to brew in the late 70’s when I would shank the stuff from my old man as a kid! Good Bier!!

I used the can as an ashtray after I finished and the taste of the contents of the can didn’t change much. metalic and thin flavored.

Braudog (6763) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUL 17, 2005
Can. Poured starchy yellow with a big stark white foam head. Starchy and corny, this reminds me of the old school beers my grandpa used to drink.
