This is a decent, inexpensive lager. Crisp taste, best served out of the freezer. Quite a bit of fizz, but as long as it is cold this does not bother.

I heard good things about this brew , since its brewed at the old Heiliemans brewery where the best brew ever made used to come from, OLD STYLE, so i drove way outta my way to get a 30 pk of this, kinda a tough find in the twin cities. anyway, the thing that worried me is that this case must of been on the shelf a while...a loooong while, it was canned in FEB of 2003!! still was in the commerative fish can that said 2003 seriers on it. never the less, i cracked one open, and it tasted fine despite its age. I would like to try a fresh one sometime. Obviolsy not a really big seller at this liquor store, as the case looked like it had been ran over too! It really does taste almost identical to old style and that makes me smile.

A step up from old style. pours a little darker then urine yellow with a fizzy white head that quickly goes away. Basically water with a kick.

Smooth going down, not a bad lager at all from this Micro-brewery. Very easy going on your pocket book as well!

drpimento (3640) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 27, 2005
this is a beer base on an old recipe from Heilemans Brewery from the 70s I think. That is, it has more of the good ingredients and less adjuncts. It’s not bad for a macro. It goes great with a Coney Dog.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2008 An old school lager beer, definitely reminds me of old style. I know so many people who think this beer is god awful but it really isn’t bad for what it is, just a simple lager beer thats easy to drink alot of.

PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 4, 2004
24 oz industrial sized can. Wet paper bag aroma, very pale light golden appearance, soapy white head. Has somewhat of a metallic flavor with a little bit of honey sweetness thrown in the back end. The can says that it is "Fully Kraeusened" - what the hell does that mean? Not much going on here - City Breweyr seems to be content with brewing second rate beers.

tomxcs (321) - California, USA - JUL 29, 2004
Not at all bad. This macro-ish lager does have a hint of flavor. I detected an almost spicey, clove & banana German Hefe flavor. The carbonation is rough as one might expect. A little sweet. Excellent for swillin’!

JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - JUN 12, 2004
Straw color with a tall somewhat lasting white fluffy/fizzy head. Light herbal hops and grainy aroma {(very light)[very, very light]very, very, very light} . Light grape and malt flavors. Hints of bitterness. A touch to effervescent, but really not to bad.
