COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & Cask: Status uncertain
Originally brewed by City of Cambridge in Cambridge, then contract brewed variously by Wolf, Oxford, and Elgood. Brand aquired by Wolf in 2011.
1st in the bitter category at the 25th and 26th Cambridge Beer Festivals. Named in honor of Cambridges historic ties with rowing. A deep amber beer with a rich, chocolately nose, supported by a little citrus hoppiness. The taste is malty and fruity (tell-tale pineapple notes from the Cascade hops), with hints of chocolate, but quite dry. Plenty of depth for its modest strength.

Bottle. Orangey Amber in colour. Average off-white head. Good lacing. Malty; bready malts, toffee. Fruity; orange citrus. Hoppy; grassy hops. Good malt/fruit/hop balance. Moderately bitter malty fruity throughout. Quite dry. Bitter fruity hoppy finish. Flavoursome for low ABV. Easy drinking. Tasty sessionable bottled bitter. (2016-04-12)

Cask (Duke of Wellington, Norwich) (6:4:6:4:13+=3.3+)
Soft sweet caramelly aroma. Ditto the taste. Soft palate, a little watery and sweet, carbonation low. Finish a little tanniny. A very solid bitter bitter. Not saying 3.7% - this has some real character. Bitterness very high, but it works very well in balance with the sweet caramelly malts.

23rd April 2015: 500ml bottle shared with my wife in bright sunshine on our patio. Really enjoyed this beer: light brown body with full heads on our two half-pint glass tankards (old Home Ales countryman glasses). Malty lead with a good hop content stopping any real sweetness from showing. Fruity and interesting, belies its 3.7% ABV with a flavoursome taste and aroma.

Bottle from Waitrose. Light brown. Clear with reasonable head & lots of lacing. Negligible aroma: bit of fruit, wood, freshly mown grass. Taste is an improvement, with a hearty hoppy bitter taste and a slight bitterness in the finish. Nothing special but certainly a drinkable bitter.

Appearance: Clear amber with finger thick ivory head. Aroma: Bready malts, peppery, slight citrus note and light toffee. Taste: Medium bitterness and low sweet and sourness. Palate: Medium thick coarse texture and body, average carbonation, abrupt citrus, peppery malty slightly bitter finish. Comments: Good and lace.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2014. Clear amber thin white head. Fruity on the aroma. Decent session bitter. English fruity bitter. Ok condition. Some bitterness on the finish some hedgerow which is attractive. Drinkable and distinctive. Dome apple fruit. Interesting.

Bottle from the brewery (I believe). Poured a hazy amber with a thin, white head. Aroma of floral hops, hay and synthetic fruit. Very bitter initial flavours; metallic with some dry straw. Finish was astringent with copper and bitter hop resin. I could not recommend.

Bottle. Amber color with small white head. Malt, caramel and floral hops. Medium sweet taste with caramel malt, bready notes, citrus hops. Light bitterness in caramel sweet finish. Not bad.
