UPDATED: DEC 28, 2013 Tap. Darker amber pour. Creamy mouthfeel. Aroma and taste of butter, caramel, malt, and earth. Just okay. beerfest5 (1207) - Cloneen, IRELAND - MAY 7, 2010
ive lived in hartford my whole life and since i started getting into micro beers a few years ago i purposefully didnt go into city steam. i didnt want to think that it was what i thought it was, a bullshit brewpub that makes third rate micro that they wished tasted as good as most macros. this one is one of the more popular brews and it tasted like miller trying to make an irish red. no way its an english pale, or "amber", this is trying to taste like killians JoeMcPhee (10137) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 17, 2009
Pale amber pour with a sticky white head. The nose is a little bit earthy with a kiss of diacetyl on the nose as well. Some fairly earthy/musty hoppiness. The hops have a touch of spice as well. Decent balance with a light malty sweetness and a touch of toastiness on the back. It’s a pretty decent, if decidely simple, English pale ale. dogfish120love (1364) - Westfield, Massachusetts, USA - APR 30, 2009
Pours a reddish brown mix no head this time. Slightly watered down mildly hoppy at best.Caramel, toffee and sweetness all derived from the malt. goldtwins (4319) - Nesconset, New York, USA - FEB 5, 2009
Tap @ the pub. Clear copper color with an almost white head. Nutty malt with a light citrus make up the aroma. Malty flavor with some toasty notes and a mild citrus hop. Dry bitter finish.

On tap at City Steam. Pours a clear light orange with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet malt and light fruits. Flavor of light pale malts, slight wheat, and a tinge of flowery and grassy hops. Ok, but boring. fredandboboflo (1570) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 29, 2008
Tap. Aroma of lots of toasted malt, a touch caramelly. Flavor more toasted, somewhat fruity malt with some boring bittering hops. Ok. KDorgan12 (169) - Memphis, Tennessee, USA - JUL 7, 2008
Growler RI - Lacey head. Malty flavor but light on the palate. Reminded me of a smoother Sma Lager - not sure if thats fair or not... kevd193213 (992) - Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA - JUL 5, 2008
Growler. Dark amber pour with a nice thick tan head. Aroma of malt, nuts and bitter caramel. Taste of malt with a nice slightly watery finish. scraff (2125) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 21, 2007
Dark orange, creamy white head. EPA nose of black iced tea that warms to citric notes and hints of toffee brittle. Flavor cuts to the chase with a heavier dried fruit tone thats balanced on touches of caramel. Nicely bittered from start to finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, soft bittersweet finish. Sessionable and well done. This and thier IPA rule the roost here...
