Bottle. Pours orange brown with tan head. Fizzy carbonation. Nose and taste of caramel, toffee, sweet malt and light lactose/sour milk. Medium body.
Very dark in appearance. Has a strong raisin or fig flavor with a sharp acidic character. Very uncharacteristic. Not a favorite Marduk (7918) - Reval, ESTONIA - APR 26, 2016
330ml bottle @HBF 2016. Slightly hazy brownish color. Huge size, yellow head, stays. Grainy, malty, sweet and farty in aroma. Sweet, malty, touch of raisins in taste. Grainy and malty aftertaste. Very delicate hops. Very drinkable brew. mansquito (6492) - Nueva York, New York, USA - NOV 29, 2015
The store formerly called Marketplace Wine & Spirits: pours clear light brown with nice beige head. So this is either infected or supposed to taste like a slightly sour, cherryish beer. Usually a beer that is clearly infected, I will not rate, but I al having a very similar experience with this beer as are a lot of the raters here. I chugged through this because I do not waste beer, but I did not enjoy it. BeerandBlues2 (13594) - Escondido, California, USA - NOV 29, 2013
Bottle at home. Pours lightly hazy tawny with a medium, frothy and bubbly beige head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is tart plums, figs, and raisins with cookie and light caramel malt, and lactic acid with light earthy hops. Flavor is lactic dark fruits, light hops and bitterness, supporting malt though mostly hidden by the tartness, and a dry finish. Medium body and light carbonation. sonnycheeba (6126) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 29, 2013

650 ml bottle from jtclockwork. Thanks James. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head that slowly recedes to a fine ring. The aroma is somewhat mild and indistinct with cola notes, caramel and dust. The flavor is light and features, roasted grains, toffee, cola and earth. Bittering is also light. The palate is full and smooth with a lively carbonation. Finishes short with a bit of acidity and astringency. Overall: This went down easy for a 8 percent ABV brew, I enjoyed it. My critical side says its a Dopplebock that lacks robustness and it falls apart on finish; my hedonistic side says it good shit and it gives a nice warm buzz. Poured from a 22 ounce bottle. Pours a darker amber with a beige head of foam. Aroma has raisins, dark fruits, and a hint at tartness. The taste is sweet, bready, and distinctly tart. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - SEP 23, 2012
22oz bottle from jtclockwork, thanks James! Pours a cloudy, brown-copper colored body with a finger-width, creamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is bready sweet caramels with some grain, dark fruits, lightly toasted nuts, and a light floral hopping. Flavor has some infection making this somewhat sour. Still has that bready sweet caramel, light nuttiness, and dark fruit essence as the base, but the sourness really distracts this in the finish. Dry, somewhat toasty and sweet before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Smooth, medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, this would be okay if it weren’t for the infection. Despite knowing that, this wasn’t very good as is. MacBoost (1914) - Victor, New York, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Shared by me at the Monte’s Krown tasting yesterday. funky and buttery smell. Obviously infected. Sour, funky infected taste. This would probably be decent if marketed as a sour/wild doppelbock. If I knew it was going to be this bad, I wouldn’t have brought it to the tasting.
