12 oz bottle: Lasting large off white head w/a medium amber body. Lemony/grapefruit citrusy hop aroma @ first, then perfumey pine alcohol as it warms. Hints of malt, but seems one dimensionally hoppy. Well balanced, but has a soapy hop flavor w/ some light floral citrus notes. Bland, flat malt character in the middle that carries into the short bland finish & aftertaste. Semi dry finish; again, one dimensional. Smooth body, low carbonation, lighter body. I was not certain what type of beer this was when I was taking notes, but I thought it was a weak, one dimensional pale ale. I see the alcohol is 7.5 which surprises me. It’s well hidden, but it’s also a mediocre beer that needs more malt character to make this more interesting to me. DogfishKing (22) - USA - MAR 22, 2005
Good god... That is hoppy.....Delicious. No 60min IPA but excellent....got pretty drunk without knowing till I stood up. RAYBOY01 (2011) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 9, 2005
Beautiful ruby-golden pour with a super rich, rocky, long lasting off-white head. Strong hop floral aroma promises and does not disappoint once tasted. Grapefruit-orange notes with a signature bitter bite in the aftertaste, nicely balanced by the restrained sweetness of pale malts. Quite nice brew. I think I’ll have another. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - MAR 6, 2005
Reddish gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is floral and grapefruity hop, a touch sweet. A medium to full bodied Imperial IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet, touch of caramel. Hops are grapefruity with a touch of pine. Medium bitter, fairly hoppy imperial India Pale Ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Pours red with a foamy head and a nice hoppy aroma. Tastes slightly bitter and hoppy with floral undertones. Very nice.

sweet maltiness and a good hop balance. Caramel notes and some spice. Really hearty beer. poured a amber-brown with a white head. TheBeerGod (6224) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - FEB 27, 2005
Bottle. Pours amber with a medium frothy tanned head. Nose is piney and citrusy with light fruit notes and some maple syrup-like sweetness. Some floral notes present as well. Taste is sweet but with a nice blancing pine hoppiness. Light citrus and some creamy malts push their way through as well. Body is creamy with mild carbonation feel and moderate bitterness. Finishes with more piney hops, citrus fruit, smooth maltiness and light maple note. Decent beer. 11026 (1772) - Alabama, USA - FEB 25, 2005
Bottle from BTG. Pours a nice copper color with a huge fluffy off-white head. Very nice lacing left behind. Flowery and somewhat piney aromas are subtle but consistant. Flavor is fairly well balanced although a little light when compared to the big IIPA’s around. Probably a little light for the malt bill. Nicely done but I would think this fits better in the strong IPA category better. LiebeBier (808) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - FEB 21, 2005
This beer is really pretty good. Not much present on the nose, but a really crisp hoppy flavor with a bitter finish. The head lasted the whole beer, which was great. With an aroma, this could be great. jon112981 (327) - Bristow, Virginia, USA - FEB 19, 2005
Man is this stuff powerful. I took one sip and knew it packed a punch. Not over the top with hops but very tasty. Strong finish reminds you of the ABV.
