Tried this beer on tap and on cask tonight at the Glebe brewpub (now at 5.8% ABV). Pours a dark amber colour with a creamy light beige head that has great retention and thick patchy lace. Smells like their typical grain malt, but with some caramel and mild hops. Slightly creamy mouthfeel because of the everlasting head. Nice dryness in the finish, but not too crazy. Perfumy malt taste with sweet caramel and the grapefruit hop kicking in the finish. Decent bitterness with an above average strength. Notes of nuts. Seems like more roasted malts than most IPA, but ends up balancing the hop very well. CASK: Unfiltered, smaller foamy head, wet mouthfeel. Fruity malt at first. Bitterness takes a long time to kick in. Nuttier finish. More flavours. More aromas of dark fruits, nut, coffee and roasted malt. Less bitterness. Interesting to try both, side-by-side.

Had a pint on tap as well as from cask. Pint arrived with a small size light hazelnut colour head and sticks around for a bit. Has an amber colour appearance. Thick lacing. Aromas are quite faint in my opinion. Some citrus notes with lighter type malts. Flavours are quite hoppy, floral hops along with light roasted malts. Hints of cinnamon. Sweeter than usual IPA’s, with the toasted caramel being added to the mix. Has a creamy full bodied mouthfeel and has medium carbonation. Enjoyed immensely! Also on cask, this one has much more malty flavours and more of a wet mouthfeel. Nutty flavours. Unfiltered. Appearance a bit darker than their normal IPA. Still pretty good, and slightly different.

On tap at the Glebe location of the brewpub. Pours a clear copper with small off-white head. Aroma is lots of caramel and grains with whiff of hops. Flavour has a rough grainy malt with lots of caramel and some light citric hops. Average plus body. Ok.

probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2013
Pint at the Bank St location. Deep clear copper with a smallish greenish-light tan head. Decent caramel, lighter brown sugar, hints of butterscotch, some decent floral/pine/resin hop notes, British. Medium body, somewhat relaxed effervescence. Quite malt forward with fair Ringwood character, decent earth/floral/fruity hops; dry with nice bitterness and a rich malty finish.

[4392-20120421] Cask. Toasted pineapple charcoal aroma. Slightly hazy, brown amber body with no lasting head. Toasted mango fruit juice continues in the flavour with some leafy green hops. Medium body. Fair. (5/2/5/3/10) 2.5

2012-04-21. Very hazy dark orange body, small frothy off-white head. 3+ Modest aroma, light orange, tangerine, leafy hop character grows. 6+ Flavour is similar, mild citrus melange under a leafy green hop layer. 6+ Smooth average plus palate. Probably the best beer I have had from Clocktower, enjoyable. Cask at Volo IPA Challenge

Cask at 2012 Volo IPA Challenge. Deep golden amber pour. The nose is a bit fruity and chewy. Stone fruit and a bit of fruit. Black current and a touch of lingering bittering. Fruity.

Pours a dark amber brown with a small off white top. Aroma is faint pine hops and toffee. Taste is more bitterness than a malt profile and hop flavouring. I think they got the bittering hops right but forgot about the flavouring.

The IPA is back after 4 years! A reddish maber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, pleasant fragrant c-hops, with citrusy notes, quite nice. In mouth, a classy IPA with biscuitty malts, cascade hops, very smooth and subdued, some sweetness in finale, a bit lighter bodied but good. On tap at brewpub, Feb. 1 2011.
