Subtle hop notes balanced by a light body and hints of honey make this a refreshingly crisp light blonde ale; an easy drinking favourite.

Keg at Clocktower Elgin St, Ottawa. Clear pale golden, small head. Fruity nose with notes of red apples. Sweetish with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Fruity with light notes of butter and grass. Low bitterness. A tough style to do, never had a good keg version anywhere I can remember.

Out of the can, poured a medium gold, filtered/clear with a tall white head that faded after a few minutes. I got notes of grainy cereal malt, cracker, and honey. On the palate, replays of sweet cereal malt, with the addition of lemon/lemon rind. Good carbonation, slight sweetness (as advertised on the can) but it doesn’t linger on too long - still I wouldn’t crush this one like other Kolsch’s.

Can: Poured a hazy golden color Kolsch with a nice white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with light faint sweet notes is enticing enough for the style. Taste is a nice mix cereal notes with some final sweet notes and some light subtle buttery notes. Body is above average for the style with good carbonation. Easily drinkable even though it is a bit off from the style guideline.

On tap at Glebe brewpub location. Pint has an inch thick of creamy head, with a dark golden copper colour. Medium carbonation. Prett dirty lacing. Aromas are light malts. Flavours are sweet, citrus tartiness. Well balanced hops and malts. A bit grassy. Stronger orange taste. Mouthfeel is creamy and malty. More hoppy in the finish. Easy drinking any time kinda brew. Above average light beer.

A clear, filtered, gold pour. Aromas of cereals, grains and cat pee. Strong cereal swallow. I’m not a big fan of this beer. Clocktower makes far superior brews. Shame they chose to release this particular one at the Beer Store.

473 ml can from TBS, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear golden with a fairly generous white head. Aroma: Grainy malt and cereal, a bit of haw/straw, light diacetyl, light grassy hops. Palate: Medium body and carbonation. Flav.: The malt becomes more biscuit-like, more diacetyl with a bit of fruitiness, low grassy hops; dry with gentle bitterness and a fairly clean, lightly malty finish.

Meh, drinkable.

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours a clear yellowish gold with a huge frothy white head. Aroma of sweet pale malts, corn, light honey, fruity esthers and a faint hop aroma. Taste is sweet malts, honey, lemon tartness, noble hop bitterness and fruity esthers. Bit too fruity and the tartness is a bit off with a touch of harshness in the finish... Otherwise a good clean lager like finish.
