On tap @ Cloudburst. Pours watery jet black with thin mocha head. Aroma is cocoa powder, sweet chocolate syrup, roasty dark chocolate malt, light boozy whiskey on the back. Taste is rich, clean chocolate malt; roasty and creamy at the same time. Thin mouthfeel. Barrel notes are light but present; more boozy whiskey than anything else. Not really comparable to huge barrel-aged stouts, but I don’t think that’s what they’re going for here. Clean, delicious flavors.
Toronado, Seattle. Thin creamy gray head. Nice bitter dark cocoa nib. Ok licorice, mild anise. Cream bitter grain and rye earthy character. Chocolate milk with a ton of Hershey’s in it. Nice. tcon25 (1025) - Duvall, Washington, USA - FEB 16, 2017
Draft pour at toronado seattle. Black pour thin head, coffee aroma little sweet. Nice smooth flavor. Hint of oak nothing overpowering with this beer great balance. andrewje41 (4664) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - FEB 16, 2017
Draft 7 oz pour at Toronado, Seattle for the rye barrel event. Such a cool idea for an event. Wish I could try them all, but instead, I’ll surprise everyone I know, and start with the Cloudburst offering. Damn this is good. Dark cola brown pour with a thin fizz head. Gentle rye, obvious coffee, rich chocolate and vanilla aroma. Lots going on. A chocolate, coffee, and breast malt front, with an exceptionally smooth whiskey latter. Proof that Cloudburst is so much more than hops. Delicious. Loved it.
