330ml bottle. Very dark brown pour with a one-finger tan head, nice retention and lacing. Aroma: roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, smoke. Taste: light sweet, roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits, a little chocolate and hint of smoke, moderate bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, silky mouthfeel.

Bottle from McHughs. Pours dark brown, with a black hue. Thin tan head. Aroma is coffee bean, marijuana bud, chocolate, more coffee, some vanilla background. Flavour is a creamy chocolate coffee with a long coffee finish. Lots of roasty goodness. Robust body and overall very pleasing.

Bottle, 330 ml. Pours VERY dark brown with two fingers or so of dense, lively light tan head, with good retention and thick lacing. No light escapes. Aroma is sweet but earthy; coffee notes are on the sweeter side though there’s a fair bit of wood and grainy earth going on too. Creamy notes from the wheat and oats, and some fairly faint dark chocolate along with the moderate roasted malt character. Taste is sweet and malty with caramel and dark chocolate coming through strong at first, with some prominent roasty hazelnut and walnut. Moderate roasty woody bitterness takes over from here, leading to a quick and dry finish with a light bitter aftertaste. Body is medium, texture is smooth and silky, carbonation is soft. Great example of an easy-going porter with a lovely balance of sweet and roasty bitter.
