(growler) Sampled at launch at Beers of the World in Henrietta, NY. Cloudy copper pour with a nice and creamy looking tan head. Piney and hoppy aroma with a lot of good citrus and some light caramel and toasted notes. Nice and citrusy at the start of the taste with a mild and subdued hop taste. The oatmeal from the Loopy really tones down the hoppiness of the Claw Fist. Blends really well and definitely doesn’t taste like 10%. Really tasty.

22oz bottle: this one pours a clear, dark amber color. There was a small light tan head that didn’t linger very long. Interesting nose. Molasses, a touch boozy, bready, toasted malts and some faint coffee and roasted malts. The taste is good, and a little interesting. Some coffee, almost a slight burnt grain taste, some hoppiness, good caramel body in the background. Interesting.

"Amber is on the label yes, but 10% = definitely a strong ale. The cool thing about this brew is that even though it was Imperial in every way, it didn’t lose the carmel toffee malt and citrus hop balance, just amplified it. Would love to have this brewery fresh. This sample was two months old and was surprisingly good. I didn’t know it was 10% til after...figured 7.5-8% from the beer itself."

Bottle - Caramel and booze, almost barley wine like. Cloudy amber with a small beige head. Lots off booze, caramel and a bit of toast. Dry finish and and sweet like a barley wine.

Bottle: Murky brown with light brown head and sticky lacing. Sugary, hop aroma, malty, nutty notes as well. Sweet and powerful!

Bottle pours a murky dark amber big caramel sweet hoppy aroma. Bitter and woody with lots of toasted caramel sweetness. A bit more like a bash wine

ChainGangGuy (4932) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - NOV 16, 2013
22 ounce bottle - $4.99 at Bullock’s Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours an opaque, rust-toned body with a ill-formed, short-lived, just off-white head. No real lace accumulation.

Smell: Sweet-scented, well-toasted, bready, and simply crackling with cooked brown sugar. Wafting, stinging alcohol all the while. Hoppy, poppy notes of pine, pithy citrus peels, and shredded mint leaf.

Taste: Toasted bread, toasted nuts, and big, sweet gulp of brown sugar linking to a seer of alcohol. Bold crystal malt quality. It’s plenty sweet and sugary, but, there’s alot of resiny bitterness, hot alcohol, citric orange pinches to balance it out. Even a sliver of mint. Moderate bitterness. Sugary, spicy, bitter, and a bit boozy on the bitter, heated finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: It’ll do.

The malt flavor is definitely the star of this beer with hops as a Subtle add on. The flavor starts with a malt/bread aroma and ends with a lingering hop flavor

Torpedo. Poured a brownish color. Full head with lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt syrup, caramel. Bitterness in taste. Packed with hops. Malty, caramel notes. Nice texture. Wow this is a mouthful. Some warming alcohol.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a foamy white head. Aroma of syrupy malt. Taste is sweet followed by a coconut like flavor balanced with slight hops and alcohol burn. Very well refined. Strong but drinkable. Nice
