LearninBeer (605) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JAN 27, 2017
The aroma is caramel, some chocolate, a little coffee. Pours almost black with tan head, mostly diminishing and excellent lacing. The taste is sweet and then bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, a little thin. The carbonation lively and the finish bitter. Very Good! kerenmk (4806) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - DEC 24, 2016
Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer & Beyond. Black with a tan head. Roasty, coconut, a little grassy aroma, bitter, dry and roasty taste, rather medium-bodied, bitter and roasty finish. Narnad (1521) - Crystal Lake, Illinois, USA - DEC 21, 2016
Pours a pitch black with low carbonation and almost no head. When pouring the brew initially, it had a very viscous look to it. Aroma has a mid-amount of burnt malt, light raisin, modest coffee, light chocolate and some hefty roasted malt in the finish. Flavor is a well balanced combination of sweet and roasted malt. Notes of coffee and raisin are present during the entire drink. Body is very hefty with a lot of residual sugar remaining in the brew. Carbonation could be a touch more as my bottle had almost zero carbonation in it. Alcohol is very well hidden among the sugars. Overall an enjoyable brew. I think I am going to try and age a bottle or two of this to see how well it ages. jgb9348 (6328) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 19, 2016
Deep dark, almost fully opaque coloured body with a full on oil slick on top with absolutely no head at all...crazy looking. Aroma of mushrooms, roasted malt, oatmeal, light coffee, earth, caramel and a bunch of pungent bitterness at the end as well. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasty flavours with some malt, earth, coffee, grain, pit fruits, light smoke and some mushroomy flavours as well - quite strong throughout. Aftertaste shows some bitterness from grain and coffee with hints of oatmeal, roasted malt, vanilla and a bit of chocolate as well. Overall, a decent beer with a lot of pungency, but not a great imperial stout due to the mellow flavours, oil slick topped beer and the unphazing complexity which basically doesn’t exist. I sampled this ten ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 19-December-2016 for US$5,00 at the end of my driveway.

Opaque black pour, frothy dark tan head. Big malt aroma, lots of roast, almost burnt toast. toffee, vanilla. Fair bit of bitterness in the flavour, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee. Some alcohol but not overly powerful. Definitely one of the better clown shoes I’ve had. bulldogops (2702) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 27, 2016
Rating #2310 - 2016.01.22 - Bottle from CBI. Big bubbly black pour with a tan head that erupts from the tulip Aroma is heavy roast malt, caramel, mild vanilla. Taste is coffee, toffee sweetness, and a roasty bitterness, medium-heavy alcohol character, but well tempered with the luxurious toffee sweetness.
