4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz Bottle. The pour was a deep dark jet black with an average (1-2 finger) medium brown dense creamy head that reduced to a thin film with a small collar and had excellent sheeting of sticky lacing.
The aroma was very robust with a burnt chocolate malt, light resin hops and a sweaty leathery yeast, with notes of dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, vanilla and a bit of smoke.
The taste was extremely malty and lightly sweet with a hint of chocolate for the first few seconds, and then became moderately bitter with a big coffee note, a hint of smoke and an almost overwhelming alcohol presence towards the finish. The flavor stuck around for an average duration after the swallow, with an alcohol infused espresso mocha taste left to settle in on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was full in body with an oily, dry texture and a very soft carbonation.
Overall this was a very impressive brew, one which possessed a ton of flavor and a smooth easy drinkability. I believe I will buy another just to age, a brew like this can only get better and better...
A- Tobacco, roasty, char, cocoa.
A- Black color, black liquid, brown head.
T- Tobacco, roasty, cocoa.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish.
O- Lots of tobacco and char. A touch of smoke and cocoa as well. Liked it quite a bit but might be a touch overrated. Clarkdvm (531) - Florida, USA - NOV 1, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 1, 2017 Bottle in Florida. Pitch black pour. Bread, smoke & burnt syrup. Tastes excessively alcoholic. Think I'm being generous with 3 stars gripweed57 (2856) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - OCT 7, 2017
22 ounce bottle. Opaque black color. Moderate creamy tan head. Rich chocolate malt aroma. Roasted malt, chocolate syrup, espresso and burnt toasted raisin bread flavors. Creamy mouthfeel and smooth drinking for a RIS. The 12.5% ABV is hardly apparent, which is scary! Finish is roasty, toast and mildly smoky. crazy_cat_lady (702) - - SEP 10, 2017
Bottle from a grocery store in San Carlos, May 2017; purchased while on a business trip. Pours pitch black with a thick creamy+looking tan head. Big aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, cherries. Quite impressive slick smooth mouth feel. Was mildly worried it would be bitter based on the aroma, but it is really nicely balanced, with sweet chocolate, blueberry, and cherry flavours, some bitter coffee in the middle, and a long sweet finish with some light bitterness. Bitter malts and toast, you can definitely tell this is an alcoholic beverage. Not a whole lot of sweetness at all. Very dark with little head though tons of lacing. Surprisingly lighter bod than I expected. Good, but I found it overpoweringly acrid at times and that’s unusual

(Bottle) Black colour with firm, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, cacao, dark fruit, liquorice and hints of blueberries. Malty, roasted taste with notes of strong black coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, blueberries, dried fruit, liquorice and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Rounded mouthfeel and fairly well balanced, with alcohol in the background. Very nice. mjjmhays (11) - - JUL 23, 2017
The Unidragon promised a deep, imperial stout taste and it delivered! Delicious beer!

Black as a hole. High cocoa chocolate smell. Full bodied like a rich espresso - a huge beer. This beer will amaze you.

Aged 5 years? some hop flavour following a good chocolate IS. Very drinkable, and can see why it put Clown on the map. KevinReddirt (220) - Midland, Texas, USA - MAY 27, 2017
Obtained on a road trip to the Dallas area. Never had a downer from Clown Shoes, this continues that. It shows up jet black with a wispy beige fringe on my new Buffalo Bayou snifter glass. Super scent, coffee, chocolate and cough drops. The taste goes from there. I get dark chocolate, raspberry, a great hoppy punch that outlasts all the other components. Different but good. Stout plus IPA. Well done.
