On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., dispensed to a snifter showing a deep mahogany hue, with a finger’s width of tan froth that reduced to a band of foam, light film, and doily-like cling to the lacing. The nose expressed some initial ripeness, then dark, dried fruit, caramel sweetness, and ready alcohol. Full bodied, with low carbonation, and syrupy texture, the taste was as the aroma notes, with participatory bourbon presence, and plenty of warmth. A heavy duty Barleywine. Aromas of caramel, bourbon, raisin skin, and dates. Taste is burnt sugar, dates, raisin skin, bourbon; apricot and burnt sugar, with some grapefruit in the finish. Bourbon warming up the chest. AgentAle (1817) - Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, CANADA - APR 16, 2017
Aroma is rich sweet malt’s, toffee, and caramel. Definitely lots of sweet bourbon hints here from the barrel aging. On the body you get the same sweet notes. Lots of bourbon , tart and camel notes. Get some of that high abv on the finish but definitely doesn’t spoil the experience. Very lively barley wine with a slightly hazy amber body. Smaller beige head that doesn’t retain too long which is expected from a high abv beer like this. edwardbass (861) - Illinois, USA - APR 13, 2017
Murky brown. My messed-up sinuses can’t detect an aroma, probably not a pile of sh*t either. Taste is caramel, a decent bit of bourbon, a bit of citrus hops. Good amount of bitterness for a barleywine. Pretty good, considering I’m not a big fan of the style. drpimento (3801) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 6, 2017
Aroma is graham crackers, dark ripe fruit, wet grain. Flavor’s like nose, traditional, but has a lot more going on- lots of malty bittersweet. Great body and finish.

Bottle thanks to Brian! Pours hazy amber, small beige head, dissipates fairly quickly, bubbly lacing. Aroma is toffee, bourbon, vanilla, oak. Flavor is fully sweet, light bitter, rich malty and decadent. Full body, low carbonation. Kinda hot, but really tasty as a sipper. koleminer20 (4091) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - FEB 6, 2017
From notes. Enjoyed at the 4th Annual Barleywine Tasting at Nicole’s house on January 28. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a nice darker amber color with a thicker light tan head that slowly fades down to a dense cap without any lace. The aroma is pretty decent. There is a light burnt brown sugar, some caramel malts, a charred oak, a light bourbon, and a hint of vanilla on the back end. It’s really heavy on the burnt sugars, which I’m not a fan of. The flavor is a bit better. There is more of a balance between the caramel and brown sugar and the bourbon. There is a light dark fruit on the back end that is pretty enjoyable. The mouth feel is a touch light with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly sweet dark fruit and caramel molasses with a touch of bourbon. I like this one. markwise (5450) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 12, 2017
Bottle courtesy of PaulUnwin. Cheers, Paul! Pours a caramel amber with a white head. Nose is toffee, caramel, citrus hops. Flavor is similar with big caramel and toffee, booze, and bitter on the end. Medium in body and ok overall. jhamp9 (1987) - Corinth, Texas, USA - JAN 8, 2017
Murky brown pour with an off white head. Aroma is strong caramel, vanilla, and bourbon. Taste follows the nose the nose with some fruitiness and dates. Strong bourbon taste without any boozy burn. Full chewy body. Beerdedone (3460) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Bottle. Pours reddish amber with a medium thick off-white head that left nice lacing. Aroma of bourbon, caramel, vanilla and toffee. Flavor was smooth and nicely balanced with sweet toasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, toffee, molasses and raisins. Sticky texture, full bodied, light carbonation. Awesome barley wine.
