22oz bomber pours with a nice dark body that supports a full tall mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up dark fruity esters like dates and blueberries along with cinnamon, sweetened ginger, a good load of chocolate and then whispers of dark roasted malts. The taste starts with some velvety dark chocolate and then it quickly picks up a thin dark roasted maltiness. To midway the sweet dark fruity esters come to the surface with a firm mix of dates and prunes to go along with cinnamon and ginger like spiciness. This is pretty nice but the fruitiness is a little too forward for me.

Clear cola-like appearance with a light beige head atop showing moderate-to-low retention.
Wow. Even after almost two years this thing is still a spice bomb....huge cardamom and cinnamon dominate easily with chocoalte-like malts behind it. Light fudge, vanilla, soy and rich caramel, with warming, but still not quite enough, even take altogether, to match the intense spice character. I suppose it masks the alcohol, at least?
Better in the mouth, though still very spicy. Low carbonation, sweet and sticky, with medium attenuation. Certainly have seen much worse from Clown Shoes. The malt and spice profile almost balances out and you get soft molasses, maple, caramel and chocolate with tons of layers of spice, but it’s still heavily messy with astringent character from the spice and specialty malt and too much sweetness collecting on the palate, as the beer wears on.
Poured from bottle dated 7/28/15 blackish brown with a coca head. Aromas of vanilla cinnamon and Chai. Taste is roasty cocoa vanilla with lingering spice finish. AdamChandler (4977) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 20, 2017
2015, 12oz bottle. Thanks TJ. black, not oily looking. a small coffee colored head. aroma is dominating vanilla and cinnamon and some sort of chai spice. flavor makes me wanna shoot off a .22. flavor is a solid chai tea with vanilla with a lot of habanero at the finish. lingers spice. still damn good. commonshawn (1194) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 13, 2017
Tap at the butcher and the boar with commonmac. Black with tan head. Strong chai spice nose. Taste is a syrupy, sweet, sticky, slightly boozy taste, not as much spice. Spices come late. Body is medium light for the style. Ok, but hoped for better. GenDV138 (7201) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - DEC 29, 2016
22 oz bottle poured into a tulip. Bottled 11/6/2013. Black with a finger of tan head. Aromas of roast, dark chocolate, vanilla, spices, dark fruit, maybe a touch of oxidation. Tastes of roasty notes, spices, a little dark chocolate and caramel. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Hasn’t aged too badly but it was definitely better fresh.

Rating #2272 - 2015.12.21 - Bottle #21 in the 2015 Craft BeerAdvent Calendar. Beautiful dark brown pour with a decent head that lasts. Aroma is rich cocoa, alcohol. Palate is more of the same, lots of burnt sugar sweetness, cocoa, and a big hit of Chai - cardamom and cinnamon, which complements/exacerbates the high alcohol. Pair with some kulfi and succumb to your sugar coma, Indian style. Gerbeer (3679) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 12, 2016
12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with light head. Strong aromas of chai and dry winter spice overpowering everything else. Flavors spicy chocolate, roasted malts, ginger and allspice. Put off by the nose but yummy flavors. DuffMan (10268) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 4, 2016
Bottle. Dark brown, burnt orange highlights, rapidly receding head. Chocolate, cardamom, cream. Moderately sweet with low bitterness. Spice grows as it warms, tasty. exeter (531) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 28, 2016
Poured dark with a nice tan head and great lacing. Tastes of Vanilla, cinnamon, coffee, cocoa and of course chai. Nice and thick after aging for 5 months. Would have again as a sipping beer. tmalaher (303) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 14, 2016
Dark and chewy. Very nice spicing. Sip it slowly, as it is hard to take in large amounts.
