Bottle at the BA Buffalo bottle share. Pours deep amber thin tan head. Nose and mouth get kicked by a big blast of bourbon, oak, and chocolate. Nose does have a nice breads element. Light sweetness. Body is but seems a tad thin. MmmcKay (1052) - Brentwood, Tennessee, USA - NOV 27, 2012
Not great in comparison to the other amazing beers of the evening. Really wasn’t fair to be honest. Truth be told, this beer is just kind of muddled and lost. It’s not bad, but the brown ale and imperial stout qualities clash. The roastiness overwhlems some of the other more light flavors of the beer. The weight of the beer feels off as well. It would work if it were just a brown ale. The bourbon barrel imp stout makes it taste feel like it should have more weight. Feels almost too watery. Just a miss for me. From Winooski’s in August trip. Dark brown with big lace, with a mocha head. Chocolate, Cinnamon heat, even chile, roasty, hoppy. Coco. Good drinkability, softer than many bitter imperial stouts, they call it such on the bottle, it can pass as an IS. GuillaumeCL (344) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 26, 2012
Pours black with some tan head that dissipates quickly. Smell is roasted malts and some sweet caramel. Palate is medium bodied with not a whole lot of carbonation. Taste is sweet and roasted, some slight hint of the brown ale in there, and some good hops. Long hoppy aftertaste. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - OCT 26, 2012
Dark mahogany with glimpses of chestnut, acorn, and cappuccino with a small nutmeg head. Nose is cocoa, vanilla, and bourbon. Flavor is aggressive with lots of alcohol, oak, vanilla, chocolate, brownie, and fudge. Sounds better than it tastes. Everything is there, just not good combinations of each. The components are a little above average. Together, they make average...even when aged in bourbon barrels. Unfortunate.

Pours dark mahogany into a tulip. Mocha head with little retention recedes to mottle surface. Dark caramel and chocolate aromas. Thin and dry with sweet dark molasses upfront turning to dark chocolate and espresso in the lasting mildly bourbon finish. jeremytoni (3058) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - OCT 2, 2012
From a bottle poured a dark brown color with a good amount of head. Light sweet toasted malty flavor with a quick finish. Robbievegas (230) - Las vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 1, 2012
Wow this one punches you in the taste buds! Amazing aroma, aged in bourbon barrels gives it that smell and drop kick in the taste buds!
