3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours near black with a big, frothy brown head. Nose is a bit like a stout, with lots of roast, hops, and a bit of bread and booze. Flavor also leans more toward a sweet stout that expected, with the coffee leading the attack, and a long, only mildly hoppy sweet finish lasting long. Booze comes out some but not too badly. Fairly interesting ale.

"What - this was (partially) barrel aged?! That may be where the slightly off aroma and flavors that I described last night as "vegetal"came from, but damn, i didn’t get any barrel aged goodness outta this one. It’s a suped up brown that if not for the green olive like offness had some serious potential to be very very good. As it was, it was still decent. Looked good, great body, and some nice complexity with the roast and malt (and I guess bourbon) in there, but I couldn’t get past the off notes. Nevermind - upon further review, the brewer’s description ablove is for Flight of the Pimp, a totally different beer. So this one is indeed NOT barrel aged. Good. I thought I was losing it." Bottle, shared with my father in law. Very hazy medium brown, off white head. Heavy malts, lots of cocoa and burnt sugars, finishing with an assertive bitterness. A bit of dusty yeast. Very tasty. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 9, 2014
22 oz, bottled 6/2012. Deep brown with creamy tan foam. Nose is brown sugar, molasses, hay and coffee grounds. Seductively silky with a sharp tang ending bitter and ashy. Taste is dark chocolate, dark roast and burnt sugar with swirls of dark fruit. A jacked up brown; i like it.

Bomber bomber. Very dark brown color. Aroma is thick roasted malt, caramel, cocoa, molasses. Some warming alcohol. Huge malty caramel body. Medium bodied on heavy side. Creamy texture. A bit of bitterness at end. A big malty beer. Dan269605 (235) - Rocky Hill, Connecticut, USA - OCT 28, 2013
Deep dark brown with two fingers of beige head. Looks great. Aroma is a little weak, toasted nuts, slight roasted malts that yield a mellow coffee notes. Taste rolls around the tongue much like the aroma. This is pretty much just it comes billed as, a double brown ale. I actually liked it quite a bit at first, but as it warmed it became too boozy. If that was better balanced this would be very impressive. As it is, pretty good. AndyW68 (1542) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - OCT 9, 2013
