COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brown Angel comes at you with three levels. At the heart the beer is layer upon layer of pure, delicious malt. Columbus and Amarillo hops add an intense hop presence while a final layer of East Kent Goldings delivers a delicate floral finish. This is NOT your old school brown, but a rather sexy American interpretation.

Hazy dark brown with a bumpy fluffy head that slims down to a film and leaves some decent lace but nothing too pretty. Smells nicely of pine, hops, and some pineapple sweetness and then later on the maltiness appears which was nice and created a better balance. The taste was a also nicely balanced between the hop/pine flavors and the nutty malty and hint of fruit flavor along with a dry wood flavor which I got more towards the end adn in the aftertaste. Very nice moderate carbonation and medium bodied. Really easy to drink and nice example of a style that is not overly popular.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2012 65cl bomber @ Delirium Hoppy Loft courtesy of and shared with Ronny (rlgk).

Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 22 oz bomber. Pours a deep. dark brown with a sticky khaki colored head that leaves a nice coat of lacing. Aroma has a nice earthy dirt essence to it with a hint of licorice and chocolate. Flavor is full-bodied and fresh. Notes of chocolate, nuts, caramel and licorice permeate throughout. Mouthfull is thick and full. Very solid and flavorful brown.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter. Pours a very deep brown, bordering on black. A couple inches of brownish white head but little lacing. Aroma is dark and malty. Plenty of chalk, dark malt and cocoa. Mouthfeel is dead on. Not heavy like a stout, but more porter-like and dry. Carbonation is perfect. Taste is chalky with with plenty of dark flavors such as chocolate, chalk, some berry, cocoa, red wine and a wee bit of grassy hops. Overall, a very good beer. Didnt wow me but very well constructed.

I want to like this beer, but it never quite comes together, despite the sum of its parts. The texture is largely to blame, since the beer never quite feels as big or hearty as you want, not letting the massive amounts of malts and hops settle. The bitterness is there, but theres an unfortunate home brew quality that shows through on the finish. Nice label though.

Solid brown ale. Poured from a bomber, with a deep brown color. Not too complex and very sharp at the finish.

On draft at Diesel in Atlanta. Darker and thicker than I would have expected. Semisweet maltiness. Filling and satisfying.

08-JUN-2012, draft @Bishops Arms. Brown, hazy, lasting lacing tan head. Roasted with chocolate and hops. Quite bitter and earthy hops. Creamy and really nice brown ale in an American style. Though normally not my style, I like this.
