Brown Angel comes at you with three levels. At the heart the beer is layer upon layer of pure, delicious malt. Columbus and Amarillo hops add an intense hop presence while a final layer of East Kent Goldings delivers a delicate floral finish. This is NOT your old school brown, but a rather sexy American interpretation.

Bottle shared with Leighton and James in Delirium Hoppy Loft. It pours very dark brown, with a thick beige head. The nose is molasses, pine, treacle and earth. The taste is caramel, pine, leather, leaf, earth, resin and some alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not overly complex, but easy drinking nonetheless.

On tap at Monsters of beer 2011. Pours a dark amber with a small frothy off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is a raisin malt and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with sweet caramel malt flavor. Easy to drink a very good brown ale from Clown Shoes.

Pours a hazy brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus, dark malts and earthy, citrus hops. The taste is citrus hops, chocolate and some roastiness. Medium bodied.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2010 Sample from a bottle shared by Brad at Jackie Os as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer is a clear amber-orange color with a medium frothy off-white head that burns away quickly. Sticky rings of lacing. Aroma of toasted bread and caramel malt. Medium body with flavors of sweet toasted malt, milk chocolate and some fruit. The finish is sweet and malty, with a very light hops aftertaste. Just average overall.
