Aroma has some roastiness and distant moldy tones. Flavour is nutty with roasted notes, some cocoa and bitter coffee. Good, but no big feelings here.
Bottle shared by a friend at the 5th Annual Coldest Day of the Year Stout Tasting on 1/26/13. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, chocolate and some nuts. Albany, Ga - Warehouse Package Store - 22 oz bomber. Pitch black pour sticky khaki colored head that leaves a nice film of lacing. Aroma has some peanut-like accents, some earthy potting soil. Flavor is pleasant with some light chocolate notes, some peanut butter accents, a touch of potting soul. Mouthfeel is smooth, could be a tad thicker. Pretty solid. Appearance: Black colour with a beige head.
Aroma: Caramel, coffee, malt, some alcohol.
Body: Medium body, low carbonation.
Flavour: Chocolate, caramel, nuts, raisin, some fruit.
Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 beers this beer poured a black color with a small foamy tan head that faded and left decent lacing. The aroma was faint toasty malts, caramel, pecan and a hint of molasses. The flavor was dryish and nutty with notes of caramel and molasses, a hint of coffee and vague roast nuts. 650ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Dark and caramel malty aroma with a nuttily touch. Taste is dry dark malty, hints of caramel, burnt sugar, a nuttily touch; middle part brings subtle sweetness, in the finish again dry notes, like hazelnut parings; soft palate, slightly disturbed by effervescent carbonation. Sampled at esbls. Dark brown and red. A tan ring. Nuts and roasted malts are smelled. A bit of a thin feel. Nuts and roasted brown sugar flavors. Pretty good.
