(tap) clear very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of roast, pecans; dryish, nutty flavour, unexceptional ganache (6108) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 4, 2014
Bomber. Nose is nutty, indeed, with heavy dark chocolate and brown sugar, pie spice with wood and a little bourbon, malt. Pours pitch with a large, tight light brown head. Taste is sweet, malty medium body thin at points, but creamy and rich at others; bit airy with a yeasty/mineral touch behind light fruitiness, some bourbon barrel but for deft rounding, and a nice subtle wood component. The pecan element isn’t overdone, just a bit of lipid fullness and I think some mild scorch, but the stronger dark chocolate is sultry and whatever porter is the base is nice. Smooth and satisfying.
