COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Thanks to hudsonphotog for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of chocolate and pecan notes, as well as some roasted malt. The flavor is similar. The heavily roasted malt notes really come through, but there is also a good bit of sweetness from the brown sugar and some nice roasted pecan flavor. All of the notes go very well together, with the sweetness and nuttyness melding especially well. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice.

From a bomber. Pours very dark brown with thin light brown head. Tastes like chocolate, caramel, roasted, nutty and sweet. Smells like pecans and toffee. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Pours deepest amber tinged brown into a Sam glass. Mocha head with medium retention pancakes and recedes leaving spot lacing. Mild caramel and nut aromas. Thin with dark caramel and pecans front to back. Lasting bitter espresso finish.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/29/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, pecan nuttiness, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt and pecan notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toast, toffee, brown sugar, pecan nuttiness, brown bread, caramel, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, pecan nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with moderate nutty pecan presence; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and moderately slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial porter style! All around good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt and pecan flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Bomber. Nose is nutty, indeed, with heavy dark chocolate and brown sugar, pie spice with wood and a little bourbon, malt. Pours pitch with a large, tight light brown head. Taste is sweet, malty medium body thin at points, but creamy and rich at others; bit airy with a yeasty/mineral touch behind light fruitiness, some bourbon barrel but for deft rounding, and a nice subtle wood component. The pecan element isn’t overdone, just a bit of lipid fullness and I think some mild scorch, but the stronger dark chocolate is sultry and whatever porter is the base is nice. Smooth and satisfying.

Great pecan flavors, sweetness and good roastyness from porter, I like this one a lot

65cl, as Genghis Pecan, new American brew Anno 2012, with roasted pecans, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex Porter, malty/roasted and slightly sweet/woody, balanced, hazy, small head, good brew, yet expensive!

22 ounce bottle poured a dark brown color, almost black, aromas of light chocolate, pecans, caramel, and some light brown sugar. Flavors are the same, blended nicely. This was a real enjoyable beer.

Pours black with thick, tall tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, light vanilla and maybe hints of pecan, nuts of some sort at least. Taste is dry, chocolate and vanilla before a roasty coffee finish. Fairly light but creamy and smooth body with soft carbonation.

Bottle. Black with a fluffy tan head. Sweet almost pumpkin like chocolate and malt aroma. Thick creamy palate. Tastes of pecan, sugar, and chocolate with a sweet finish.
