Bottle @ ZZT8: BBT. Pitch black colour with a small beige head. Smells coal, slightly roasty, apple pie (thx to ’the nose’ countbeer). Tastes ash, coal, roasty, some coffee. Thin to medium body, soft carbo. thornecb (5883) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 30, 2012
Pours deepest amber tinged brown into a Sam glass. Mocha head with medium retention pancakes and recedes leaving spot lacing. Mild caramel and nut aromas. Thin with dark caramel and pecans front to back. Lasting bitter espresso finish. ganache (5856) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 4, 2014
Bomber. Nose is nutty, indeed, with heavy dark chocolate and brown sugar, pie spice with wood and a little bourbon, malt. Pours pitch with a large, tight light brown head. Taste is sweet, malty medium body thin at points, but creamy and rich at others; bit airy with a yeasty/mineral touch behind light fruitiness, some bourbon barrel but for deft rounding, and a nice subtle wood component. The pecan element isn’t overdone, just a bit of lipid fullness and I think some mild scorch, but the stronger dark chocolate is sultry and whatever porter is the base is nice. Smooth and satisfying. 65cl, as Genghis Pecan, new American brew Anno 2012, with roasted pecans, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex Porter, malty/roasted and slightly sweet/woody, balanced, hazy, small head, good brew, yet expensive! Cybercat (5747) - Georgia, USA - NOV 18, 2012
Smoky aroma has notes of caramel, malt - and yes, pecan. Pours a rich, warm sable with a thick and persistent light tan head. Rich flavor fills the mouth with brown sugar, caramel, pecan and malt notes plus hints of chocolate and roast quality coffee. May be a whisper of licorice in there, too. Fairly sweet, but not too much. Smooth, firm texture has a good amount of fizz and very nice body. A nutty conquest indeed!

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/29/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, pecan nuttiness, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt and pecan notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toast, toffee, brown sugar, pecan nuttiness, brown bread, caramel, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, pecan nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with moderate nutty pecan presence; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and moderately slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial porter style! All around good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt and pecan flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. burg326 (5479) - Florida, USA - DEC 13, 2012
22 ounce bottle poured a dark brown color, almost black, aromas of light chocolate, pecans, caramel, and some light brown sugar. Flavors are the same, blended nicely. This was a real enjoyable beer. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 31, 2013
22oz bottle in an English pint. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, some chocolate, dark sugar and pecans, and light hops with hints of smokiness. Flavor about the same, with a nice blend of everything and no overly artificial flavors. Average texture. An interesting porter.
