COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/29/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, pecan nuttiness, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt and pecan notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toast, toffee, brown sugar, pecan nuttiness, brown bread, caramel, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, pecan nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with moderate nutty pecan presence; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and moderately slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial porter style! All around good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt and pecan flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

22 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter. Poured dark brown, nearly black, with a light brown head. The head soon reduces to a durable partial coat and ring. Moderate lacing. Smells sweet and delicious. Some pecan pie filling with cinnamon. Moderately strong. Only faint grains. Less sweet than it smells, theres a solid layer of medium and dark roasted grains with a bit of caramel and dark chocolate. A hint of roasted pecans, but wuite faint, as is the coffee in the finish. Near equal sweet/bitter by the finish. Medium body; very good carbonation level; very smooth. Dry finish. O: Lightly boozy nose and feel, but still drinks like 4-5% ABV brew. A distinct, remarkably smooth Amer. Porter. Recommended.

Bottle. Not much pecan in the nose. Just kind of brown ish. A hint of sugar. Taste is similar but has a light roasty character to it. Ok but not something I would think had pecans in it or seek out again
