COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Bottled 650ml (WPBF)
Opaque black color, tiny off-white head. Toasted, rye bread malty aroma. Medium-bodied. Bready, slightly toasted flavor. Hints of caramel, not much pecan found. Simple toasty porter without much substance.

On tap at Yard House Houston. It pours a dense, finger thick tan head over a more or less black body. It’s quite roasted on the nose, with a solid shot of licorice. Dark chocolate too. It’s pleasantly carbonated, medium to full bodied on the palate, and quite dry even though there’s sweetness going on in the flavor. Roasted malts, some dark chocolate and bitterness, and quite a lot of salty licorice, as well as some nuts. Lasting finish with roasted malts and safety licorice. Some sweetness too, but it’s bitter enough to prevent it from even getting close to cloying. Sure a nice one. Especially like the licorice, but hoped for more nuts. 131111

Bottle thanks to PhatDog. Pours black with tan head. Nose of roasted pecan, vanilla and lightly toasted chocolate malt. Taste is a bit richer - lots of roasted chocolate with some coffee roast and vanilla. There’s a roasted nuttiness in the finish, which I attribute to the pecans. Medium body. Well balanced.

Bottle - Molasses and some sweet boozy soapy notes. Jet black with a rich brown head. Dark chocolate and molasses with a light bit of the pecan in the finish. Nice, but not nearly as good as the 512 in regards to pecan flavor.

Thanks to mixmasterob for this bomber. Pours quite dark brown/black with a good tan head - creamy mostly. Aroma is chocolate with some distinct brown sugar and/or treacle. Full bodied. Flavor starts with chocolate, has some coffee, and there is a certain pecan nuttiness reminding of sugared pecans. Mainly however this is towards dry, bitter and coffee for a finish. Tho that nut thing is always hanging around.

Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Pitch black - brown head. Chocolate, ok bitterness, rather high malty, pecan, nutty, peppery, coffee notes, some spicy dark chocolate, also milk chocolate, nutmeg notes, light acid notes. Ok drinkability,

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy brown with medium frothy tan head that lasts awhile leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is a strong pecan, chocolate, and roast. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, and light bitterness in the finish. Easy to drink, a good porter.
