COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Bomber from Capones. Pours turbid dark blackish brown with 1-finger tan head. Nose is black patent malt, nuts, cacao. Tastes rich, with a malty flavor up front (black patent), nuts, cacao, brown sugar, hops, and molasses. This one is rich and dense, but I wanted more nutty sweetness. As it is, it isnt bad, but comes off like a nut brown ale/dry stout hybrid with extra hops and patent malt.

Tap. Nice dense dark pour with a clingy brown head. Lots of carmelized pecans and sugar sweetness in this. Some dry roasty coffee as well. A bit bitter late but finishes fairly clean.

Bottle, the tenth in our tasting lineup of the Beers Of Fall. Dark brown body with a tan head, lacy retreat. Aroma is sweet chocolate and caramel. Flavour is pleasantly malty, milk chocolate and roasted nuts in nice balance. Very tasty.

22 oz. bottle shared by b3shine- thanks again, Beau! Pours a deep brown color with a small beige head. The aroma has some definite nuttiness but I never would have pegged it as pecan; also chocolate, toast, earth, fudge, and brown sugar. Flavor of dark chocolate, toast, earth, and brown sugar. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. Good porter but doesnt quite hit the mark.

65 cl bottle @ wPBF14.
Pours clear dark copper color with a small head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee notes and resinous hops. Flavor of roasted malts, some tar, caramel, mild cocoa, dry nutty notes and wood. Slightly too thin but almost perfect balance on the body. Very nice anyway.

22 oz. bottle from Dutchs. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small fine beige head. The aroma and flavor have a decent chocolate opening, nutty, some roasted malts and earthy bitterness. The flavor falls off a bit toward the finish, ultimately ending with some ashy character. There is a mild sweetness that comes through. Very smooth and light to medium bodied. It just seems to miss on some key parts by a little bit.

Thick creamy dark-beige head over virtually black beer. Roasted/burnt, dark malts very dominant, breadcrust, faintly sweet smelling. Something of dark green leaves as well, whilst warming yields liquorice. Bitterish-roasted, brown sugar underneath, but hardly any sweetness. Dont get the pecan, but then thats not something I consume daily. Flavours drop away quite soon, leaving not much more than carbonated liquid behind. Spritzy, medium bodied, bit slick, but finishing empty. Ho hum.
