COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Not sure where I bought this, probably at a danish bottle stop. Smell of chocolate, flowers and dark malts, fudge and caramel. Similar taste, roasted and toasted with some coffee notes. There is a chemical note that is a bit disturbing.

Draft at Barcade. Super dark brown pour with light head, very nice lacing sheets. Notes of caramel malts, light roast, milk chocolate, light hops, and coffee. Not much pecan pie in this one for me. Medium body. Just ok.

Aroma is yeast, nutty/roasted malts and spices. The flavor is nutty malts, a definite sweetness, an undercurrent of the roasted pecans and a mix of tart and smooth in the finish.

Pours deep brown, bubbly, with a frothy, dark oatmeal head. Scent is pecan (lightly), almost smoky/roasty..... Taste is chocolate, nuts, caramel, milk. Slight earthy bitter. Very sweet overall...good one.

Bottle, dark brown with some good creamy foam, mostly burnt roast notes but after the fullers vintage 2012 I just had that is a winner, where’s the rest of the pecan pie

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, molasses, light caramel, burnt notes, coffee, and a touch of nuts. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights and a two finger khaki head. There’s a soapy webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with dark chocolate and molasses. The finish has some burnt notes, roasted coffee, some roasted nuts, and a hint of alcohol. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, I got some nuttiness, but I can’t say this makes me think of a pecan pie. It’s more reminiscent of an Imperial Stout than a Porter.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Central Market, 10/21/13, 2013 Bottle

Aroma: The aroma is nutty, and sweet, with some caramel and roasted malts
Appearance: It pours a rich brown color with a small light brown head and some light lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, fairly nutty, and a little roasty, with a mild earthy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, clean feel, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: Pretty solid stuff overall. The pecans and brown sugar flavors are clearly there, but they are also subtle enough that the clean malty flavors can come through too. Fairly light and easy drinking for the style.
