COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/29/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, pecan nuttiness, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt and pecan notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toast, toffee, brown sugar, pecan nuttiness, brown bread, caramel, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, pecan nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with moderate nutty pecan presence; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and moderately slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial porter style! All around good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt and pecan flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Aroma is a little roasty with hints of chocolate, vanilla and cream with the pecans melding everything together nicely. An attractive beer with a deep black color and tan head. The pecans come through more in the flavor than the scent and add a nice nutty flavor. Delicious!

A delicious and full flavored beer, though I don’t get any pecan flavors out of it. Aroma was a nice big whiff of strong dark chocolate and roasted malt. Smell so thick you feel like you can reach out and grab it. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with a thin tan ring for a head. Taste was big and full of chocolate malt. Very milky with a nice mix of sweet roasted malt and bitter dark chocolate. Nice bitter hoppy finish. Nice carbonation round the beer out

This is no joke; this is a really nice treat--almost like a dessert beer. This is a malty treat with just enough of the pecan goodness in the background.

Guiness Glass from Glass Bottle Beer had a lovely black pour, and nice short brown head. The aromas ere of lovely roasted malts, and nuts on the finish. The beer had a smooth texture with a gentle finish on the pallet. It was well balanced with the flavors, not to much pecan, but just enough to compliment the slight roasted coffee finish.
