Very nice smoked beer, significant but not overbearing. I get and like the rum. More great value from Clown Shoes, proving great beer can be available and at a good price.smooth above average mouthfeel. SG111 (1823) - New York, USA - FEB 27, 2017
Bottled at Clubhouse BFD event. Unsure of the vintage. Pours pitch black, tan head. Aroma is very smoky, chocolate, oak, a little barred aged quality to it. Flavor is smoky, chocolatey, and minimal barrel character which is a bit disappointing. Simple. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 30, 2016
22oz bottle in a teku. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some smoked malts, light rum and oak, hints of dark chocolate, and some dough. Flavor really good and has a nice amount of smokiness. Smooth texture. Another surprisingly good clown shoes barrel aged beer. AWISLguy (3109) - Wisconsin, USA - APR 10, 2016
On tap at Timothy O’Tooles in Gurnee. Hooky afternoon with E. Big barrel nose. Sweet caramel. Chocolate. Rum. Yum. The bittersweetness is well done despite the rum sweetness. The barrel trumps all. 250th impy stout! 14.8 ryanfolty (2553) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - MAR 13, 2016
March 12, 2016 - on tap at Rare Beer Fest held in the Minnesota History Center. First beer of the night and got things off to a good start. Dark pour with a nice amount of head. The rum barrel aging was very noticeable in the aroma and taste.

Bottle shared by my friend Sam. Pours Near black with a thick tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a full-bodied smoked malt flavor with a rum finish. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - OCT 24, 2015
Bottle shared by a friend. Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, rum, nuts and raisin. Malty and chocolatey flavor with spicy rum before a roasty finish. Beerdedone (3408) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 30, 2015
Bottle. Pours pitch black with a thin tan head. Aroma of rum, chocolate, caramel and smoke. Flavor of dark chocolate, roasted malts, rum, smoke, oak and had notes of molasses. pineypower (3327) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - SEP 7, 2015
Bottle Pours out pretty much black as expected with a small off white to almost light tan head. Aroma is molasses, , sweet brown sugary rum barrel, like a solid dark rum. Light roast, some mild smoke and a light touch of chocolate. Taste is lots of syrup, some molasses, brown sugar, burnt chocolate, light roast, little more apparent alcohol on this palate than in the aroma. Mouthfeel is pretty smooth. Some oaky notes creep in there and some light smoky earthy notes. Solid. Thisis12ptfont (1192) - Los Angeles, CA, California, USA - MAY 18, 2015
Aromas of intense rum, tropical fruit, spices, barrel, toffee, chocolate, oak, nougat and black tar.Appears black with a thin mocha foam. Taste is ridiculously smooth with dark malts, spices, chocolate and tropical rum upfront. More notes of toffee, prunes, roasted malt, roasted coffee, barrel wood, toffee, raisins and figs. Finishes smooth with a big boozey rum finish. Overall, not as intensely smoked as most beers. Smoke takes a back seat behind the rum barrel. The base beer alone is fantastic but the rum barrel gives such a fantastic twist. A rating.
