650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a medium light beige head, which lasts fairly well and leaves reasonable lacing. Coffee and bittersweet dark chocolate dominate the aroma, with some faint grapefruit and pine needle hops notes coming through. A touch of dusty cocoa up front gives way to strong pine and grapefruit hops, with some pepper hops notes in there as well. A little coffee leads into bittersweet dark chocolate in the mid-palate. This persists into the finish, with an almost fruity cocoa taste coming in at the end. This is quite a nice black IPA, but it could do with a bit more of a hops kick to really lift it.

Bottle. Pitch black pour with light brown head. Aroma has fresh flowers and burnt chocolate. Taste has instant bitter notes and is quite light. Nice and fresh. Medium carbonation

PapaVillum (874) - Valby, DENMARK - NOV 7, 2016
---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not a bad black IPA. Roastiness is pretty potent. Black and sharply bitter by the end. Hoppiness is surprisingly citrusy with a pine finish.

(Bottle) Pours black with big beige head. Nice aroma - pine and roasty coffee. Medium body with good carbonation. Taste starts with a mix of sweet malt and dark roast malt; the sweetness retreats and a big hoppy bitterness emerges and mixes with dark roast and coffee bitter notes. Great black IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500, capped. Pours an opaque matte black with a dense and creamy tan head that goes away after a while. Dry piney nose, lots of ash and some darkly toasted black bread crusts. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Darkly toasted caramel, darkly toasted black bread crusts, and dry pine on the mid palate. Very drying finish and aftertaste. Very well made, but not exactly to my tastes.

Bottle. Very good aroma with black domination, but still fresh. Taste is a bit dissapointing. Good in The beginning, but quickly turns to bitterness. I miss flower-ish sweetness.

355 ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Looks: Opague blackish brown colour with a thin ring of dirt-like yeast sediments; Two finger head with crumpety beige foam which lasts for 5 minutes; Beautiful sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant rich dark malt, with strong dark chocolate, strong coffee, caramel, strong sticky toffee, cream, grapefruits, floral, light pine, molasses, bread, yeast, lemon and grass.

Taste: Medium sweet rich dark malt, with grapefruits, strong cream, strong black coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, strong toffee, strong floral, strong molasses, pine, strong resins, spices, bread, yeast, strong lime, very strong bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Mid to full body. Very creamy and oozy palate.

Mouth Feel: Wholesome dark maltyness in a thick and smooth background. Massive volley of grapefruits, black coffee and dark chocolates back by creamy toffee and caramel, plus strong floral and backbone molasses well countered by strong ooze, strong bitter lime and grass. Wonderful!

Hoppiness: Grapefruits, floral, light pine, lemon and grass in nose. Sharp grapefruits, strong floral, pine, strong resins, spices strong lemon and sharp grass in taste; Bitterness is very strong for a lasting, very high astringent limey coffee malty finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry. Creamy hoppy and very bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is what Moor Illusion could have tasted like if it wasn’t wheat-thinned. Yes, this is rich dark malt at its purest, full of creamy body, great lacing, toffee aroma and rich black coffee taste, back with very limey oozy hoppiness. Bitter as hell but damn tasty. A winner!
